What's the story?

The Chairman is returning to Raw!

WWE.com and several other news outlets carried stories that revealed Mr. McMahon will return to Monday Night Raw the day after TLC. Wrestlingnews.co revealed that it will have something to do with Baron Corbin and the GM position of Raw.

In case you missed it...

Vince has returned sporadically throughout the year to the shows he helped build. His last appearance on either Raw or Smackdown was in October for Smackdown 1,000.

Since then, Baron Corbin has been running wild with power as the interim GM of Monday Night Raw. He has abused his power by changing matches in the middle, booking handicap matches, forcing Heath Slater to do his bidding and many other underhanded things.

At TLC on Sunday, Corbin was supposed to face Braun Strowman in a TLC match. If Braun won, Strowman would receive his rematch with Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at the Royal Rumble. If Corbin wins, he would be installed as the permanent GM of Raw.

With Strowman's injury status looking like it might severely limit his availability for the match, rumors have been going wild as to what will happen with the match. Kurt Angle is also rumored to be returning to Raw on Monday.

The heart of the matter

WWE.com got the news rolling when they tweeted the following:

It is rumored that he will address the ongoing issues with Raw and it's interim GM, Baron Corbin.

Wrestlingnews.co notes that he's likely returning because of the recent drop in ratings and to deal with Corbin and/or a new potential GM. With the move to Fox for Smackdown next October, WWE will do its best to try and make their programs bulletproof.

What's next?

TLC will ultimately decide how things will play out on Raw.

If Corbin wins, then according to Stephanie McMahon, he will be made permanent GM of Raw. He still could conceivably win his match but not be given the status he wants.

Will Vince's return to Raw help address the current issues it has been facing?
Will Vince's return to Raw help address the current issues it has been facing?

It's happened before, like when Shane lost to the Undertaker at Wrestlemania but was still given control of Smackdown. Winning a match in the WWE doesn't always mean the winners get what they are promised. What mattersi is what a McMahon is willing to give/not give to the winner. That ultimately decides the direction of things.

Vince will also likely appear because he pops the ratings any time he shows up. That won't be hard to do, however, showing up right after the two lowest-rated episodes of Raw in the show's history.

As always, it should be interesting to see how exactly Vince shakes things up.
