What's the story?

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is one of the wealthiest people in the world, having built an empire from the bottom, and becoming one of the most well-known figures in sports entertainment.

Forbes has now revealed how much Vince McMahon is worth in 2019 as well as the huge increase in his wealth over last year.

In case you didn't know...

Taking over his father's wrestling promotion, Vince McMahon expanded the WWF, as it was then known, into territories all over the USA in the 80s, and then followed it up by grooming some incredibly talented Superstars, and then being an important part of the Attitude Era - an era which shaped and brought pro wrestling to the mainstream audience.

WWE has expanded all over the globe, including having PPVs in Saudi Arabia after signing a huge $450 million deal with Saudi Arabia to host shows in that country, while also signing a new deal with Fox to air SmackDown.

The heart of the matter

The annual Forbes billionaires list was released recently which had Vince McMahon in the 691st position with a net worth of $3.2 billion, which is a staggering $1.5 billion increase since last year's list.

This increase could be as a result of McMahon's deals with Saudi Arabia, as well as the new Fox deal, which will come into action later this year as SmackDown will switch over to Fox and broadcast on Friday nights.

McMahon is also set to launch the XFL, an American football league, in 2020. He sold stock worth $100 million in 2017 and then $22 million of stock last year, to fund the re-launch of the XFL.

What's next?

McMahon's net worth is only going to increase considering how his promotion continues to grow.
