WWE News: What happened after SmackDown Live went off the air

Bobby Roode
Bobby Roode tagged with Orton and claimed the win

What's the story?

There certainly were some big names on show after the end of 205 Live in Glendale, Arizona, as the ‘main event’ dark match featured a couple of interesting tag teams.

Randy Orton and Bobby Roode teamed up to face "The Bulgarian Brute", Rusev, and "The Showoff", Dolph Ziggler.

In case you didn't know...

Randy Orton and Rusev have been going at each other for a while and this feud’s culmination will take place at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on 8 October.

Roode, who has made the jump from the NXT brand to SmackDown will also battle against Ziggler in the same pay-per-view.

The heart of the matter

This certainly was a unique tag team combination as reported by Wrestling Inc. The pair of Orton and Roode got one over their Hell in a Cell opponents as the "Apex Predator" hit Rusev with an RKO to win the match.

What's next?

The quartet should be seen in next week’s SmackDown before they face off in Hell in a Cell. Rusev might have some retribution for Orton as the Apex Predator hit him with an RKO during a special ‘Pride of Bulgaria’ ceremony.

And we should see another glorious promo from Roode, or even Ziggler coming out and impersonating Roode before taking to the ring.

Author's take

Orton taking part in a tag team hasn’t been seen all too often in the WWE but we do know about Roode’s exploits with Beer Money Inc on other promotions.

"The Glorious One" certainly is an accomplished singles competitor too and thankfully, he seems to be one of the few NXT graduates who is getting the right treatment from the WWE.

It would be pretty amazing to see Roode battle for the WWE Championship and maybe that could be on the cards should he defeat Ziggler.

For Orton, this feud against Rusev doesn’t really cut it for me. Randy needs a new challenge or rival while Rusev’s act is getting a little predictable these days.
