WWE News: What happened after SmackDown Live went off the air?

What's the story?

The Superstar Shake-Up episode of SmackDown Live was well received by fans. After 205 Live tore the house down, the dark main-event saw Randy Orton take on Shinsuke Nakamura.

In case you didn't know...

Shinsuke Nakamura faced AJ Styles at WrestleMania for the WWE Championship in a rematch from their bout at Wrestle Kingdom 10. Nakamura failed to beat Styles and looked to be paying his respects to Styles after the match but ended up turning heel and low-blowing Styles.

Nakamura attacked Styles again on the SmackDown after Mania along with his tag partner Daniel Bryan. Shinsuke attacked Styles once again last night on SmackDown, appearing behind Styles during a tag-team match and hitting him with another low blow.

Randy Orton, failed to retain the US Championship at WrestleMania in the Fatal-4-Way match. There were rumours that Randy Orton would be moving to RAW in the Superstar Shake-Up but the move didn't materialize and Orton will remain on SmackDown.

The heart of the matter

The dark main-event after 205 Live saw Shinsuke Nakamura face Randy Orton. The match ended in a DQ after Nakamura hit Orton with a low blow. It looks like the low blow is quickly becoming one of Nakamura's signature moves.

What's next?

As just announced, Shinsuke Nakamura will challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at the Greatest Royal Rumble later this month in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Author's take

Shinsuke Nakamura's heel turn has worked very well so far. His run as a babyface didn't work on the main roster because the way he was booked exposed his weaknesses rather than hiding them. It's good to see Nakamura finally find his footing.
