The New Day took center stage in an entertaining dark match

What's the story?

There's no better way to kick off proceedings than with a hearty, if not necessarily healthy dose of pancakes, right? Well, WWE certainly believes so, and they kicked off the action this week with The New Day in action.

The New Day were victorious in the dark match, much to the delight of the WWE Universe. We thank Wrestling Inc. for the heads up about the match and results.

In case you didn't know...

The go-home show for Fastlane came to us from Green Bay, where the men and women of SmackDown Live tried to whet our appetite before the big pay-per-view. The main event of the evening saw 5 of the 6 participants of the 6-Pack Challenge at Fastlane battle it out in the main event match.

Sami Zayn stood victorious in the match that we've mentioned.

The heart of the matter

As the crowd gathered for an entertaining episode of SmackDown Live, they were in for a treat before the cameras rolled. Xavier Woods teamed up with fellow New Day member Big E to take on Gable and Benjamin in a tag team match.

The babyfaces went over in the match, with The New Day delivering a Midnight Hour. As one can see from the clip we have linked here, the crowd was into The New Day and firmly cheered for them as they stood tall at the end of the said contest.

What's next?

The New Day will face The Usos for the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships at Fastlane. Every time these two teams have shared the ring, the results have been quite outstanding indeed. We cannot wait for the next chapter in their saga.

Author's take

I would have honestly preferred to see The New Day spar verbally with The Usos, during the actual episode. Big E showed a serious side of himself, that we'd never seen in the past.

The New Day and The Usos were the best part of last week's episode, and it was a shame they weren't on, this week.
