From the WWE Rumour Mill: Real reason why Enzo Amore was pulled from WWE Mixed Match Challenge
WWE had a very good reason for this decision.
What's the story?
Enzo Amore was booked to be part of WWE Mixed Match Challenge but his recent illness kept him from being part of the event. Kurt Angle tweeted out that Enzo Amore's illness means he's off the show.
Thankfully, Amore is booked to defend his Cruiserweight Title against Cedric Alexander this week on Raw.
Therefore one assumes he could plausibly be ready for the Mixed Match Challenge show. But as it turns out, any fan speculation has been squashed by a simple logistical explanation.

In case you didn't know...
Whenever someone gets pulled from the road or taken off of a television show there is always going to be a portion of the fanbase who will worry someone is being punished or they're injured.
On the other hand, an event like WWE Mixed Match Challenge is sure to have a lot of preparation involved because a lot of things might need to be shot early to give the editing team time to do their magic.
The heart of the matter
Enzo Amore wasn't pulled from WWE Mixed Match Challenge for any reason other than the fact WWE shot promos for the teams in the series. Enzo Amore was suffering from the flu that day and they didn't want him to expose anyone to an illness.
The teams on the RAW side taped their promos for WWE Mixed Match Challenge on Monday and Amore wasn't allowed in the building to record the bits
WWE needed to record early for the show. Areplacement decision needed to be made.
Therefore, the decision was made at that time to replace Enzo Amore with Apollo Crews.
WWE Mixed Match Challenge will be a groundbreaking event and could very well mean the beginning of something great for the future of WWE as they break out into a new frontier on social media.
The flu is awful and it's unfortunate that Enzo Amore has to miss the Mixed Match Challenge because he was under the weather. It's almost as big of a shame that he had to also miss P. Diddy's big New Year's Eve bash as well.
WWE pulled Enzo Amore for good reason and found a fine replacement in Apollo Crews. All of these partnerships are rather interesting and it certainly looks like WWE Mixed Match Challenge is going to be a very entertaining event.
