WWE News: Why Ronda Rousey wasn't on Raw

Let's g
Let's get Rowdy... In a few weeks

What’s the story?

UFC icon Ronda Rousey made her historic WWE debut at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view this past Sunday. WWE officially announced almost immediately after, that Ronda had signed a full-time contract with WWE.

There has already been much speculation over the past two days over what kind of contract Ronda signed, if it will be similar to Brock Lesnar's, or if she will have much more dates.

In case you didn’t know…

Ronda was quick to comment on her WWE signing by saying, ''This is my life now''. There is high speculation that although Ronda will be making appearances on WWE TV between now and WrestleMania, that she will not be making her WWE in-ring debut until WrestleMania itself. The popular opinion is also that Ronda will team up with a to be named male partner to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a tag team match in New Orleans.

The heart of the matter

Ronda did not make her WWE Raw debut this week because she flew back to Columbia to continue filming her next movie, Mile 22. Ronda likely won't be appearing on WWE TV again until late February/early March, as she is scheduled to have completed filming just before then.

What’s next?

Most expect Ronda to show up on Raw in late February/early March to build hype for her in-ring debut at WrestleMania. Ronda's work dates with WWE should be more clear by then, but it is worth noting that Ronda does also intend on appearing in more movies and has already signed up as the lead for the remake of Rowdy Herrington's 1989 Road House.

Author’s take

I don't know if Ronda will be making appearances on every episode of Raw post-WrestleMania and every pay-per-view afterwards. But it is understandable that she will be unable to appear on Raw over the next month or so. I do believe she will be more committed to WWE than Brock Lesnar is.
