Would you turn down the WWE right now?

What’s the story?

Indy wrestling and NJPW starlet, Will Ospreay, revealed on Chris Jericho's "Talk Is Jericho" podcast this week that he had recently turned down an opportunity to discuss a move to the WWE.

In case you did not know…

Will Ospreay has quickly become one of the biggest names on the independent circuit over recent years with the highlights of his talent being showcased with New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring Of Honor.

The current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion who hails from the UK has received many praises from the likes of Paul Heyman, Dave Meltzer and Kenny Omega, and is touted to be the next big thing in sports entertainment.

The heart of the matter

Speaking with Jericho, Ospreay said on the possibility of going to WWE: "As a kid you'd always want your WrestleMania, you always wanted to be like yourself (Jericho), John Cena or any of those guys. It's always been in the back of my mind but as I've come here (NJPW) I've grown up more. I had a phone call the other day actually asking about my contacts and stuff like that. I appreciate it but I'm happy here and I love being a part of Japan."

What’s next?

Will Ospreay signed with NJPW back in 2016 and hasn't looked back since. It's reported he's still got some time left on his current deal, and with him still creating headlines as the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, it's expected he'll be about for a while.

Some of the dream matches Ospreay could have in WWE would be out of this world. If he was to sign with NXT or the main roster he would stand out as a top athlete.

Saying that, seeing his recent success and the likes of Bullet Club, I feel there is no need for him to rush to the WWE. It would be great to see him there one day because he does deserve it, but for now, he should stick to impressing it in Japan and Ring Of Honor.
