The Women of WWE will have another historic opportunity on the Road to WrestleMania when the new titles are bestowed to the winner of the Women's tag team Elimination Chamber match.

Six women's tag teams, three from Raw and SmackDown, will enter the chamber in February and the winner will become the inaugural WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.

This announcement comes nearly a month after Vince McMahon revealed that the women's division would grow to include tag team titles on the Christmas Eve episode of Monday Night Raw.

The design of the titles was revealed during the Moment of Bliss talk show in the third hour of Raw and was different from the rest of the championships on the main roster.

The new titles sport the white leather belt that the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships have, but the title plate design is similar to the title designs in NXT.

Women's tag team titles were rumoured to be introduced in WWE after the feud between Sasha Banks and Bayley was cancelled and the duo continued to wrestle tag team matches - leading many to believe they would become the first women to hold the title.

Despite the rumours of Bayley and Banks becoming the first tag champions, other women's teams started to form throughout 2018 and made it clear that a tag team division was coming to the main roster's women's division.

The following are the list of women's teams that regularly competed on WWE programming in 2018:

  • Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan)
  • Nia Jax & Tamina
  • Ronda Rousey & Natalya
  • Alexa Bliss & Alicia Fox
  • Sasha Banks & Bayley
  • The IIconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay)
  • Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville
  • Asuka & Naomi

Some of the team members listed are the current women's champions, so their teams may not be included in the upcoming elimination chamber match.

The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view will take place Sunday, February 17 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas and will mark the second tag team elimination chamber match in WWE history.
