WWE News: WWE accidentally announce an unsanctioned match
They certainly didn't mean to do that!
What's the story?
NXT's Johnny Gargano had to leave the company after he was defeated in a Championship Match by Andrade Cien Almas. It was a heart-breaking moment for NXT fans as they saw their favorite forced to leave the brand thanks to the actions of his former Tag Team partner and best friend, Tommaso Ciampa.
They may rest easy now, as WWE have accidentally given scheduled an unsanctioned match for NXT Takeover: New Orleans.
In case you didn't know...
Johnny Gargano was offered a rematch for the NXT Championship by Zelina Vega and Andrade Cien Almas, on the condition that he would put his NXT career on the line. Gargano put in a great effort, with his wife, Candice Lerae helping him by stopping the distractions of Zelina Vega.
It looked like Gargano had the match won, but with the referee down, an interruption by his former friend, now enemy, Tommaso Ciampa, proved crucial in the results of the bout. Ciampa hit Gargano with his crutch, allowing Almas to take advantage of the distraction and pin him. As a result, Gargano had to leave NXT.
The heart of the matter
NXT fans have not yet seen the return of Gargano on the broadcasted episodes of NXT. It was assumed that he would return, but now it is confirmed, with WWE inadvertently posting the complete match-card of NXT Takeover: New Orleans on Facebook before deleting it moments later.
They could not delete it before fans took screenshots, however, and the last bout on the card has Gargano facing Ciampa in an unsanctioned match.
The other bouts displayed was a six-man Ladder Match for the new North American Championship, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish against the winners of the Dusty Rhodes Classic Tournament, Ember Moon and Shayna Baszler for the Women's Championship and Cien Almas against Aleister Black for the NXT Championship.
WrestleMania weekend is fast approaching, and though it is not confirmed, it seems like Gargano is set to return and face Ciampa in an unsanctioned match at NXT Takeover: New Orleans.
This bout does not come as a surprise, however, with WWE leaking it accidentally, it can be considered all but confirmed. What remains to be seen, is if they change up the bout due to the leak, though something like that is not likely.
