What’s the story?

During a WrestleMania 34 conference call, WWE executives George Barrios & Michelle Wilson opened up on the possibility of a few changes to the WWE Network.

Apparently, the WWE Network could be tiered sooner rather than later, with the premium section affording fans access to more content.

In case you didn’t know…

The WWE Network was launched in February of 2014 and has garnered widespread praise from trade pundits for the brilliant execution and smooth functioning that has highlighted the network’s run till date.

Currently, the WWE Network isn’t tiered—in the sense that all content on the network can be availed at the price of $9.99 per month.

The heart of the matter

Several streaming service networks offer content to their subscribers, however, most of the said networks also feature a premium section—which costs more—wherein only the premium subscribers can avail bonus content.

Courtesy Brandon Howard Thurston, it was revealed that WWE Co-Presidents George Barrios and Michelle Wilson have asserted that WWE could possibly add a tier to the WWE Network in the days to come.

Here’s an excerpt from the Tweet sent out by Brandon Howard Thurston

Barrios says "we think there's an opportunity to tier the product [WWE Network]... so that's coming... we don't have a launch date yet... stay tuned... it's coming sooner rather than later."

What’s next?

The WWE Network has been praised for its innovation and highly-regarded accessibility & usage for the fans—which in turn is said to have contributed to WWE’s business success ever since the Network was launched.

Author’s take

Honestly speaking, the WWE Network has made viewing sports-entertainment content so much more fun.

Gone are the days when one had to scurry to the video parlor to buy DVDs featuring your favorite Superstars in exciting matches.

The WWE Universe’s beloved Superstars and several enthralling storylines are all easily accessible today, thanks to the WWE Network. However, whether or not introducing a tier to the Network works out, remains to be seen.
