WWE Rumors: WWE building to a Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman feud at WrestleMania 33
After watching Braun Strowman run though Sami Zayn on Monday night, it was clear the big man was still in need of competition on the red team. According to a report on Cageside Seats, the former member of the Wyatt Family may finally get his wish.
There is a report out that Strowman may be part of a program WWE puts together, involving current United States Champion Roman Reigns. It is possible this would be part of plans for WrestleMania 33.
There is no word if the United States title would be involved or whether Reigns, who has also been part of the main event picture on Raw, will contend for the WWE Universal Title which is currently held by Kevin Owens.
Since the brand split in July, Strowman has been nearly unstoppable in the ring. His divorce from the Wyatt Family has meant that the neophyte has had to go it alone, facing less and stellar talent, which also included James Ellsworth, who was recently signed to the SmackDown Live brand on a full-time basis.
Strowman has worked handicapped matches for the majority of his time on the red team and has repeatedly asked for better competition. When Sami Zayn answered the call to face Strowman before Hell in a Cell, it was thought the former NXT champion would help put Strowman over.
The match never materialised, but the two met in the ring on Monday night, where Raw general manager Mick Foley had the match stopped due to Zayn’s inability to defend himself.
Strowman had a solid showing at Survivor Series as part of Team Raw, where he faced off against his former mentor Bray Wyatt in the traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series match.
He was eliminated by count out when Ellsworth prevented him from getting back in the ring.
Reigns has been part of the main event picture even while he has held the mid-card title he won from Rusev at SummerSlam. The three-time WWE World Champion has been flirting with a potential brand title run for the past few months, along with Seth Rollins.
If the match between the two is booked, it would be the biggest match or feud in Strowman’s short WWE career. Facing Reigns will help put Strowman over as a top heel in the company.
Strowman made his main roster debut in August 2015 by attacking Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns and establishing himself as the newest member of the Wyatt Family alongside Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper.
