WWE News: WWE does weird poll about legends and World Championships in 2018

Who won?

What's the story?

WWE.com recently uploaded a poll onto their website which asked fans what veteran they thought was most likely to win a World Title in 2018. The options in the polls were Triple H, Kurt Angle, Goldberg or The Undertaker.

So far, Angle is edging out Triple H by one per cent, with 34% voting for Angle and 33% going with HHH, whilst Undertaker is third at 23% and Goldberg received the lowest at 11%.

In case you didn't know...

Out of the names mentioned in this survey, Goldberg, a 3-time World Champion, is the veteran to most recently have his hands on a major title, winning the Universal Title against Kevin Owens in February at the FastLane PPV, before losing it to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 in April.

He has not wrestled for the company since and is rumored to be going into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.

WWE CEO Triple H has the most World Titles out of everyone included in the poll, as he is a 14-time World Champion.

He last held a World Title back in 2016, when he was WWE World Heavyweight Champion, defending and losing his title against Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 32.

The Undertaker (a 7-time World Champion) last held a World Championship in 2010, when he lost the World Heavyweight Championship at the Elimination Chamber of that year to Chris Jericho.

He has not wrestled since the teasing retirement following a loss to Roman Reigns in the WrestleMania 33 main event this year.

Kurt Angle, the present RAW GM and a 6-time World Champion, has not possessed a World Title in WWE since leaving the company back in 2006, when he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Rey Mysterio in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 22 which also involved Randy Orton.

So far, Hall of Famer Angle has wrestled in two PPV matches since coming back to WWE earlier this year after 11 years away from the company.

The heart of the matter

As much as everyone loves Triple H (48), Undertaker (52), Kurt Angle (49) and Goldberg (51), this poll sends out the wrong message to WWE Fans as well as the company's current Superstars.

With all due respect, people do not want to see legends well past their prime winning World Titles in this day and age, when there is plenty of talent among WWE's main roster right now.

For example, guys like Rusev, Sami Zayn, Braun Strowman, Big E and Samoa Joe are all amazing wrestlers who have not won World Championships with the company, so why doesn't WWE focus on giving some of them Title reigns in 2018.

The funny thing about the whole thing is that Kane, a WWE veteran in the Universal Title match at the Royal Rumble PPV on January 28th. was NOT involved in the poll asking the WWE Universe which veteran is most likely to win a World Titltle in 2018.

What's next?

Sometimes, WWE gives away their future plans in polls like this.

Therefore, can we take from this that WWE is hinting to us that a veteran such as Kurt Angle, HHH, Undertaker or Triple H maybe winning a World Title next year?

However, often times these surveys have also lead to nothing and are just put on WWE.com for fun.

We can never be sure though with WWE.

Author's take

I am hoping that this WWE poll has nothing behind it.

I do not want to see any of these guys as a World Champion in 2018, and from the reaction, the survey got from WWE fans on Twitter, neither do most other people.

Goldberg and Undertaker have either finished wrestling or are nearly on their way out, so they almost certainly won't hold another World Title again.

But, Kurt Angle and Triple H cannot be ruled out as potential World Champions in 2018, with both seemingly still wrestling occasionally, and WrestleMania being just around the corner in April.

Either is possible. Neither should occur.
