WWE News: WWE Hall of Famer Mr. Fuji passes away aged 82

Mr. Fuji was a 5-time WWE World Tag Team Champion

WWE Hall of Famer Mr. Fuji, real name Harry Fujiwara, passed away on Sunday morning, he was 82 years of age. Fuji’s career spanned over 3 decades, which included stints as an in-ring competitor followed by one as a great manager in the WWE. Fuji was a decorated wrestler, having won the WWE World Tag Team Championship on five occasions. He also feuded with legendary WWE Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino on several occasions.

Following his retirement, he became a heel manager and Yokozuna, Owen Hart, Kamala, The Berzerker, George “The Animal” Steele, Crush, Jim Neidhart Killer Khan, “Magnificent” Don Muraco and The Powers of Pain – The Warlord and The Barbarian – were all managed by him. His relationship with Muraco especially standing out as the duo treated the fans to the Fuji Vice – a spoof of “Miami Vice”, along with Fuji Bandito, Fuji Chan and Fuji General series.

Mr. Fuji was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on 31st March 2007, by none other than his former partner Don Muraco.

Fuji was infamous for throwing salt into the eyes of his opponents, especially those who were face and was also fondly called ‘The Devious One’. He is regarded by many as one of the most entertaining performers in the history of the company.
