WWE News: WWE ran a poll to decide the stipulation for the next Tommaso Ciampa vs Johnny Gargano match 

What's the story?

WWE.com recently ran a poll asking the NXT Universe what type of match they would like to see in the next installment of Johnny Gargano v. Tommaso Ciampa. Even after their unsanctioned match at NXT Takeover: New Orleans, the feud is far from over.

In case you didn't know...

Gargano and Ciampa started their NXT careers as a tag team after being primarily singles wrestlers on the indies. The tag team known as DIY started in the initial Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament where they lost in the quarterfinals to Baron Corbin and Rhyno.

DIY captured the NXT Tag Team Championships by defeating The Revival in November 2016 at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. They would hold the titles for 70 days before losing to The Authors of Pain.

The heart of the matter

Leading the way with 63% of the vote was Three Stages of Hell. For those who are not familiar with the concept, it's a two out of three falls match where there is a different stipulation for each match.

The very first Three Stages of Hell Match was between Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin in February 2001. The first match was standard, the second was a street fight, and the third was a steel cage match.

There have been four of these matches in WWE history with the last one happening in June 2013 when John Cena took on Ryback.

Coming in second on the poll was a Hell in a Cell match at 14%, third was Last Man Standing with 7% of the vote, followed by 6% for an empty arena match, 4% for a Stretcher Match and 2% for Falls Count Anywhere, Steel Cage and an Ambulance Match.

What's next?

With four weeks until NXT Takeover, expect the fireworks between Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano and his wife Candice LeRae to continue. NXT airs every Wednesday evening at 8:00 PM Eastern on the WWE Network.

Author's take

This feud between Gargano and Ciampa is the best one in professional wrestling right now. If they're going to somehow top a match of the year candidate with the unsanctioned match in New Orleans; they almost have to do a Three Stages of Hell Match.

It allows you to take any three of the options listed in the poll and some options that weren't listed. If it were up to me, I'd have the first match be Falls Count Anywhere, the second match be and I Quit Match and the final match takes place inside Hell in a Cell.
