WWE News: WWE releases three NXT stars including former Tough Enough winner

The WWE has released a few young prospects

What’s the story?

The WWE has released a few performers as well as an on-air personality/backstage interviewer, in what appears to be the most recent round of cuts from the promotion.

The WWE has released Andrea D’Marco, Chris Atkins and Josh Bredl, besides issuing a PR statement about veteran sports announcer Mauro Ranallo’s upcoming departure from the company as well.

In case you didn’t know...

Andrea D’Marco was hired by WWE last year and served primarily as an on-air personality and backstage interviewer on the NXT brand. Chris Atkins performed at a handful of NXT live events in the past and wrestled his most recent match for the company against Oney Lorcan.

Besides, Josh Bredl, who wrestled under the ring name of Bronson Matthews, won the 2015 Tough Enough show but only worked a few NXT shows since then. Bredl aka Matthews has been out of action for a few months due to concussion issues. Fans can read more about Mauro Ranallo’s upcoming departure HERE.

The heart of the matter

The WWE has reportedly released NXT personality and former Miami Dolphins cheerleader Angela D’Marco after barely a year with the promotion. D’Marco had also briefly appeared on Monday Night RAW during her time with WWE.

Meanwhile, Australian Superstar Chris Atkins, who signed with the promotion back in 2015, has only made sporadic appearances with the NXT over the past couple of years. As we had previously reported, the young prospect has been let go by WWE, and following suit is fellow NXT prospect Josh Bredl, who’s better known as Bronson Matthews.

Bredl’s case is being attributed by many to his concussion problems, owing to which he’s been unable to perform with WWE since August of last year.

What’s next?

The aforementioned names, with the exception of Ranallo, comprise young prospects who may return to the WWE a few years down the line.

Author’s take

The WWE seems to have made a logical choice as far as Atkins and Bredl are concerned, given the fact that both performers have not been regulars at the company’s shows- NXT events in particular.

However, what befuddles me is the release of Angela D’Marco- someone who, in my opinion, is a bright up-and-comer, albeit as an interviewer and not a wrestler. Well, in the land of the MeekMahons- If you are fired- YOU’RE FIRED!!!
