What's the story?

Vince McMahon, WWE's Chairman, is not only an important person backstage and in the boardroom, but also as a key character on screen for years.

In WWE's SEC filing this past week, the document listed numerous things, including what would happen to WWE if Vince McMahon retired, becomes disabled, or dies.

In case you didn't know...

Vince McMahon returned to WWE television last year, where the McMahon family took back control of RAW and SmackDown, and vowed to listen to their fans.

He also had a brief segment with AJ Styles where he provoked the former WWE Champion to attack him, to bring the best out of him.

The heart of the matter

In the SEC filing, the WWE stated that McMahon's "unexpected retirement, disability, death or other unexpected termination" could have a huge effect on WWE's operating results as well as the creative side of the company.

"The loss of Mr. McMahon due to unexpected retirement, disability, death or other unexpected termination for any reason could have a material adverse effect on our ability to create popular characters and creative storylines or could otherwise adversely affect our operating results. Mr. McMahon has established Alpha Entertainment LLC, to explore investment opportunities across the sports entertainment landscapes, and Alpha Entertainment LLC plans to launch a professional football league in early 2020," stated WWE's SEC filing.

The filing also stated that if McMahon switched his focus to the XFL, which will be relaunched in 2020, it could have a huge effect on results and stock prices: "While he has provided the Company assurances that his focus on WWE will not be diverted by these efforts, any such diversion or perception of such diversion could adversely affect our operating results and could have a material adverse effect on our stock price.”

What's next?

Vince McMahon is an important part of WWE and I, like a lot of fans, hope to see him for a long time on WWE television.
