What’s the story?

The WWE has put forth a list of five Superstars who could face Ronda Rousey in the immediate future.

Apparently, the list happens to involve a few top Superstars as well as a couple of surprising names.

In case you didn’t know…

‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey—a Women’s MMA pioneer and former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion—debuted as an official part of the WWE roster at the Royal Rumble PPV last month.

While Rousey is yet to officially compete in a match on WWE’s television programming, the professional wrestling community has been abuzz; speculating as to whom the 'Rowdy One' could face in her debut match.

The heart of the matter

The WWE has now posted an article on its official website; speculating on a few dream matches that Ronda Rousey could compete in going forward.

Accordingly, the 5 Superstars listed by the WWE as potential opponents for Rousey are: the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble winner Asuka, SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair and a woman who vented her displeasure at Rousey’s debut being accorded too much of the spotlight at the Rumble—Nia Jax.

Furthermore, the WWE listed Sonya Deville as a potential foil to Rousey’s grappling-based game-plans; promoting Deville as a ‘striker’ who could drop anybody at will. Yet another surprising addition to the list is Shayna Baszler, who is close friends with Rousey outside the squared circle.

What’s next?

Ronda Rousey is presently busy filming for her movie ‘Mile 22’ in Colombia.

Fans can expect Rousey to report to the WWE Performance Center very soon. Besides, the WWE has also noted that considering the fact Rousey didn’t show up on either RAW or SmackDown, whether or not she’ll exclusively perform for one brand has not been decided as of yet.

Author’s take

Ronda Rousey is not simply just another celebrity trying to play a wrestler in the WWE.

Rousey is a lifelong pro-wrestling fan and seems genuinely committed to the world of sports-entertainment. Considering that, it only makes sense for the WWE to book her in a feud with one of its top Superstars. Which female talent would you like to see Rousey test her skills against?
