What's the story?

It has recently been announced that WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne will be defending his title in the UK at Futureshock's upcoming show in February. Dunne has defended his Championship in the UK on numerous occasions over the past few months, but this is the first time he has been able to defend it at Future Shock.

In case you didn't know...

Pete Dunne defeated Tyler Bate back at NXT Takeover: Chicago in May last year to become United Kingdom Champion for the first time. Dunne has since been a fighting Champion and has defended his Championship a number of times both inside and outside of WWE over the past eight months.

This isn't the first time the Championship has been defended outside of WWE since Dunne has put his title on the line at Progress and Insane Championship Wrestling in recent months, as WWE continues to push their product across the pond.

The heart of the matter

Futureshock Wrestling recently announced that United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne will be defending his Championship on February 17th in a match against Liverpool's Zack Gibson.

Futureshock is not a promotion that has been linked with WWE before, but it seems that, along with Preston Championship Wrestling, Progress and ICW, WWE is continuing to take over the British Wrestling Independent scene as they look to push their product in the United Kingdom over the next few months.

A recent update has revealed that the front row for the show has been sold out but there are still tickets available for general admission.

What's next?

It is highly unlikely that any of the United Kingdom-based wrestlers will be part of the Royal Rumble next weekend, but Pete Dunne does look as though he is set to be busy when it comes to Independent bookings over the next few months.

This title defence doesn't take place until February 17th.

Author's take

It's fantastic having a wrestler like Pete Dunne representing the UK on a regular basis and then being able to come back over to the UK and perform in front of his hometown crowds.

This isn't the first time Dunne has defended the Championship in the UK, and hopefully, it won't be the last.
