What's the story?
Michael Cole has been the voice of WWE for a really long time, and always speaks highly of the product, when he is interviewed. He was in conversation with the Sky Sports Lock Up Podcast where he discussed his love for NXT.
We thank Wrestling Inc. for the transcript. Cole also named The Iconic Duo, Ember Moon, Andrade 'Cien' Almas and The Velveteen Dream as other potential breakout stars on the main roster, in addition to Aleister Black.
In case you didn't know...
NXT has grown from WWE's developmental territory to the hottest brand in all of wrestling. NXT TakeOvers have consistently set the bar in terms of in-ring performance, invariably diminishing the impact of the pay-per-view event that follows.
While the NXT roster is fluid and always changing, every one who comes in steps up his/her game. Even Michael Cole, a name associated with the main roster, cannot help but be wowed by NXT's awesomeness.
The heart of the matter
When asked what he thinks of superstars making it to the main roster and excelling, Cole had this to say about Aleister Black:
I've followed his career for a decade now. I was so glad when we announced last year that he was going to be part of our programming. He is a guy who I really believe is going to take this brand to another level.
Moreover, he had the utmost of praise for Peyton Royce and Billie Kay:
I'm really big on the Iconic Duo of Billie [Kay] and Peyton [Royce]. They are on the cusp of something really great. They have developed quite the team; quite the 'gimmick' to use an old-school wrestlers term.
What's next?
Aleister Black challenges Andrade 'Cien' Almas for the NXT Championship one night before WrestleMania. Imagine the match that we're going to get from these two extraordinary performers. It will be pure magic and utter annihilation!
Author's take
I think all of the performers mentioned will do well on the main roster. Black especially.
He could be the second coming of The Undertaker if booked right.
