WWE/Indie News: Young Bucks talk about the potential of coming to the WWE

The Young Bucks have won tag team championships in ROH, NJPW, and PWG

What’s the story?

Nick and Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks were recently on the Edge & Christian Pod Of Awesomeness podcast to discuss a few different topics. One of those subjects was going to the WWE. Nick mentioned that they are still under contract for the next 18 months, but then uses the famous adage, “never say never”.

In case you didn’t know...

Matt would make his WWE debut in 2008 in a tryout as a jobber against Chuck Palumbo on Smackdown. Three years later the Young Bucks would get another tryout in a dark match prior to an episode of Monday Night Raw but were not signed.

The heart of the matter

At this time, the Young Bucks couldn’t make the jump to the WWE if they wanted. They still have a year and a half left on their contracts with Ring Of Honor, and an agreement would be required for the Bucks to leave the company.

The other side of the coin is that the Young Bucks do not feel that now is the right time to go to the WWE. Here’s what Matt had to say:

“My take on it is even if we were available right now, now’s not the time to go for us, because everyone in the world is going there.”

What’s next?

Ring of Honor War of the Worlds is next up for the Young Bucks. They will team up with Kenny Omega as The Elite of the Bullet Club to take on The Addiction and Hiroshi Tanahashi on May 7th. For the pay per view on May 12th, they will defend their ROH Tag Team Championships against Los Ingobernables de Japon (Bushi and Tetsuya Naito).

Author’s take

While I would like the Young Bucks in the WWE at this very moment, I am perfectly fine with being patient. I feel like they will make the jump in 2018 or 2019, along with Kenny Omega.

By then Nick will barely be 30 and Matt will not even be in his mid-30’s yet. There will be an opportunity for the Young Bucks to make a mark in the WWE before they hang it up for good.
