In case you didn’t know…

Zack Ryder has been a staple of the WWE roster for about 11 years and is well-known for his performances as a mid-card Superstar in the promotion.

While Ryder has experienced several ups and downs in his WWE career, both fans and experts alike have often speculated that Ryder may likely be fired from the WWE owing to the seemingly terrible losing streaks he’d go on—more often than not being utilized as nothing more than a ‘jobber’ or an enhancement talent.

The heart of the matter

In a backstage interview with the WWE, Zack Ryder opened up following his loss in the United States Championship Tournament Match against Mojo Rawley on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live. Ryder pointed out how he made his WWE debut alongside Curt Hawkins in the very same venue—the Legacy Arena at The BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama—and it’s been one hell of a ride so for him so far.

Furthermore, Ryder elucidated that he’s been Tag Team Champ, as well as held the United States and Intercontinental titles. Ryder added that he’s also been on the chopping block, and was once told that his name is on a list of multiple WWE Superstars who’re likely to be released from the WWE.

Ryder explained that he’s seen friends lose their dream jobs, and used to be scared to pick up his phone at times, with the thought that it’d be a call from WWE informing him about his release. Ryder continued—

“But I’m still here, (and) I don’t know why. Except that I don’t give up. I just don’t quit…Whether it’s reinventing myself or starting a YouTube show, or getting in the best shape of my life; I just find a way.”

What’s next?

Zack Ryder also revealed that he doesn’t know what’s next for him, but he’ll figure it out.

The vast majority of professional wrestling experts believe that WWE management are high on Mojo Rawley and view him as a top Superstar, hence fans can expect Rawley’s mid-card push to continue in the days to come.

Author’s take

Zack Ryder is an incredible athlete and a very hard-working Superstar.

Ryder seemed genuinely disappointed at his loss to Mojo Rawley, and regardless of whether he feuds with the latter or someone else in the immediate future, here’s hoping Ryder gets back his mojo (no pun intended) in the WWE.
