What’s the story?

During a recent exclusive interview with Sports Illustrated, former leader of the Bullet Club, Kenny Omega, discussed The New Day and revealed why he is hesitant about signing with WWE at the moment.

In case you didn’t know…

Kenny Omega is currently one of the hottest performers in the world of Pro Wrestling, working under the NJPW banner. He has proved himself as one of the greatest Gaijin wrestlers to ever step foot into the Japanese wrestling scene.

Throughout his NJPW career, Omega has won the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Titles, the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title, IWGP Intercontinental Title, the Never Openweight 6-man Tag Team Titles, and is also the inaugural IWGP US Heavyweight Championship.

Omega is also a former leader of the Bullet Club faction, having taken over the reins from AJ Styles in 2016. However, last week in Sapporo, Omega was fired from the Bullet Club after Cody Rhodes decided to betray his former leader following a devastating Cross Rhodes.

The heart of the matter

On the latest, “This Week in Wrestling" article at Sports Illustrated, Kenny Omega featured in an exclusive interview during which he said that his current favorite wrestlers in the WWE are Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E— collectively known as The New Day. According to Kenny, he believes that Big E is someone who is World Champion material.

"When I see Big E, I clearly see someone who could be world champion," Kenny Omega stated.

Furthermore, Omega also praised Big E’s, New Day stablemates Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, as he stated that Kofi is one of those guys who is good in all situations and can challenge for all titles, while, Woods is another great athlete who is talented in the ring and confident on the mic.

Additionally, the former IWGP Intercontinental Champion also said that seeing The New Day in the same spot in the WWE for years makes him hesitant about a possible signing with the WWE.

"Its things like that that really make me think twice about what I would be getting into if eventually, I do go there," Omega added.

What’s next?

As for Kenny Omega, following his recent exit from the Bullet Club, he has now reunited with his former tag team partner, Kota Ibushi.

However, as of right now, this storyline between the Bullet Club and the Golden Lovers has a lot remaining on it and it’ll be interesting to note how this entire storyline eventually unfolds.

Author’s Take

I completely agree with Kenny Omega and his statement here, I do believe that all three members of the New Day are amazing athletes and WWE should use them in the main roster as a singles performer. WWE can follow NJPW’s way of booking The Elite.
