What’s the story?

Two of Britain’s top wrestlers Pete Dunne and Will Ospreay will square off in an IPW ring on January 17, 2018.

In case you didn’t know…

Both Dunne and Ospreay are two of the fastest rising wrestlers from the UK scene. Dunne is currently the WWE UK Champion, a title which he won by defeating his fellow British Strong Style stablemate Tyler Bate in 2017 at Takeover: Chicago.

On the other hand, Will Ospreay is the first ever British star to hold the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship and is currently in his second reign with the title following his victory at this year’s Wrestle Kingdom 12 event.

The heart of the matter

Will Ospreay and Pete Dunne will face off against each other later this month on January 17, 2018, in Milton Keynes. This match itself holds a very significant amount of importance and history as this is most likely the first time a champion from the WWE and a champion from New Japan Pro Wrestling will collide against each other and will be sharing the ring with each other at the same time.

Will Ospreay himself has noted on Twitter that this may be the very first time a title holder in WWE and a title holder in NJPW will step into the ring against each other at the very same time.

The two former Progress Wrestling Champions will go toe-to-toe with each other at the upcoming IPW show titled Magnificent Zeven.

What’s next?

The Magnificent Zeven show will be hosted inside the Unit Nine arena which is situated in Milton Keynes and the show will take place in over a week’s time on the 17th of January. This event will also witness the seven men competing from for the IPW Z-Force Championship and other than that top names such as Jimmy Havocs, Chris Ridgeway, and Mark Haskins have also been booked for this show.

However, on the other hand, this will not be the first time Dunne and Ospreay will face off against each other in singles competition. “The Bruiserweight” and “The Aerial Assassin” have previously faced off at RPW’s Summer Sizzler event in 2016.

Author’s take

There is no doubt that both Pete Dunne and Will Ospreay are two of the best superstars in the entire world today and seeing them compete in a such a historic match at the age of 24 is truly unbelievable.
