Asuka after the contract signing

NXT Takeover: The End is just a week away. Just 7 days away. Some have speculated it to be the end of the ‘Takeover’ special events and others have cleared the air to say that it’s just a reference for the Balor- Joe feud. While the latter possibility seems more logical, there is also plausibility for the former to come true since NXT is seemingly revamping itself with many main roster call- ups coming up soon clearly because of the brand split and that leading to unique superstars being on each brand.

The women’s division is interesting as well, being that there are not many worthy contenders to Asuka’s dominance than Bayley and Nia Jax.

Here are the 5 points to note from this show-

#1 Contract Signing

Asuka confronts Nia Jax

The main event of the show featured a contract signing between Nia Jax and Asuka. Jax had some great lines to deliver but her delivery wasn’t especially sharp. She does need work on her promo but her character has been re-build pretty well after she beat Bayley. Asuka simply retorted ‘You talk too much’ and then went on to yell in Japanese.

That was all sorts of awesome. She then demanded Jax to be scared of her and that led to a brawl which had Asuka deliver a flurry of attacks until Jax planted her away with a massive powerbomb.

#2 The Heart and Soul of NXT

Bayley is the biggest babyface in NXT

It’s interesting to see which direction the women’s division is headed with Jax and Bayley being the only threats to Asuka’s reign. The reaction from the audience to Jax saying that she ‘broke’ Bayley really shows how much the character means to the audience.

She has been, like Jax mentioned mockingly, the heart and soul of NXT. That connection is something that cannot be matched by any babyface in the division at the moment. After all, that character took four years to really come into its own and get this stature.

#3 Top Guys

The Revival were beaten on the mic and in the ring

The Revival opened up the show announcing their intentions of becoming the first two time NXT Tag Team Champions. They ran over the tag team champions calling them ‘little amateur wrestlers’ ,putting themselves over as the faces of the tag team division and trash talking by themselves until they were interrupted by Ciampa and Gargano who were more than happy to dole out some trash talking of their own.

The exchange between fired up the crowd. While The Revival continued putting themselves over, Gargano and Ciampa effortlessly equaled the verbal attack until both the teams attacked each other and the former champs scooted off.

The teams faced off in a hard fought match later on which the former champs lost.

#4 7 days. Say it!

Balor Vs Joe- The End

The Balor- Joe feud is gaining steam as it reaches its end. Seriously, this feud has been better than ever with Joe winning the championship finally. While the friends and stabbing in the back angle doesn’t really fire up matters since Zayn- Owens had really showed what great pro- wrestling moments a broken friendship storyline can create, these two had a great interview segment with Corey Graves. Also, somebody, just please call Graves up to the main roster. The guy’s eloquent with his wrestling knowledge and analysis.

Samoa Joe feels vindicated that he finally won the title after so many hurdles. He destroyed Balor each opportunity he got but just couldn’t get the job done until Lowe happened.

Balor, on the other hand, felt that there were more performers deserving that Joe, who he thinks walked I NXT with a sense of entitlement.

7 days to go for their cage match, people!

#5 Double A Level

Austin Aries during his match

Austin Aries may just be turning heel in the most slow- burn way possible and that seems absolutely great. The superstar who considers himself to be ‘double A level’ made it clear after his match against Elias Samson that he wants the spotlight to fall on him and that he is better than anybody and everybody and he’s going to prove it at Takeover when he faces Nakamura.

The audience booed this prospect and were pretty pumped up chanting for Nakamura. This confidence may just soon turn into over confidence and then arrogance. And being a heel may just be his natural habitat.
