This week’s show focussed mainly on the immensely anticipated main event that was Finn Balor Vs Kevin Owens. So much was expected off this match and the reason for it was simple and obvious. Two great performers with a legit wrestling background were set to face each other. There were happenings in the tag team scene and of course, the divas division. This week came out with another set of good to great stories. There was much to talk about and some very memorable, defining points to noteHere are the five promising developments from this weeks show, which was probably the last show before Wrestlemania-

#1 Kevin Owens is pure badass

There is nothing better to have a wrestler with a legit background of independent wrestling, with a hardcore fan following, be booed for being a heel. This was storyline perfection.Kevin Owens has developed into the best heel in NXT and quite possibly the entire WWE. He’s arrogant, yes, he chides away that spell-binding Balor’s paint ordained self as a demon. As if he’s a cartoonish demon. But he’s one passionate individual, striving to survive for his family and himself. His deeds are painful to watch, unforgivable and all of that has culminated in making him a great character and that too in such a short time.

He wrestled a great main event and his in-ring psychology was top-notch. Touches like not giving the referee the title belt or trash talking to Balor saying,” Where’s the demon now, huh?” stay with you. He’s a heel who like his chant, fights. And when in those rare occasions he does run, it makes a meaningful point about his opponent. With that simple deed he can put over his opponent as one major threat. That is no small feat.

#2 The Showman

It takes atleast two to make a match worse or bad or good or great. Balor is not only charismatic, he’s spectacular to watch. He came out looking strong despite losing clean via pinfall. His injury looked devastating. In the theatrical world of the WWE, Balor is a perect fit. His performace is something that stays long with you and something that will make you buy a ticket to watch it live. Spreading your arms the way Balor does, following the tune of his music is something memorable to be a part of and to see. Not many can boast such an aura, not just in NXT but the main roster as well. Adding all of that to how great a wrestler he is, is reason to believe that he’s the future.

And so, even if he hasn’t won the NXT Championship, his main roster push seems to be much closer than many equally talented NXT performers.

#3 Dark Emma

WWE left many fans muddled in the middle of last year when they fired and then rehired her back in a matter of hours. The shoplifting charges were the final nail to an already waning gimmick. They made her a comedy act without giving her anything substantial to do. Not even an iota of her immense talent has been on show on the main roster. In NXT, she’s still a popular face. Until now.

She may have possibly turned heel as she showed shades of a darker character compared to her chirpy, bubbly, clumsy gimmick earlier. She slapped super- babyface bayley out of her wits. She mentioned how the NXT fans were a farce and all their reactions do nothing for you on the main roster. Channelling some ultimate Reality Era vibes, she caught the curiousity and attention of fans.

#4 Bayleiber

Speaking of gimmicks, Bayley’s gimmick is undoubtedly a hit but one has to wonder why she hasn’t yet gone after Sasha Banks title. The reason may be simple and logical. It seems like, given her popularity, she is next in line to carry the diviison forward once Charlotte and then Banks leave for the main roster and the writers seems to definitely giving her as much sympathy and making fans anticipate that one title victory much like they did for Zayn late last year.

Anyway, all of it seems to be working.

Her feud with Emma should be a win-win for both of them.

#5 Blissful Journey?

I am glad that this weeks edition of promising developments has more to look forward to from the women’s division. Alexa Bliss faced Sasha Banks for the second week in a row and while she’s nowhere near the level of Banks, she’s in developmental and that is the place where she will develop her skills to become better. Facing Banks is a huge opportunity and while she was at it, she did a decent job. Even though she’s just the first in Sash Banks’s hopefully long journey as Champion, she showcased potential. And that’s a big plus for the burgeoning women’s division
