WWE NXT News: Hideo Itami to become NXT main eventer in the coming months

Hideo Itami in action during an NXT event

WWE’s Japanese wrestling star Hideo Itami is all set to return to the ring after a lengthy absence and could be the subject of a character upgrade by WWE officials really soon – reports dailywrestlingnews.com.

Itami, who’s been on the sidelines since January after picking up a shoulder injury, is all set for a return to action after going under the knife, and could step up in the absence of several Superstars expected to be called up to the main roster in the coming months. A status upgrade could very well see the Japanese receiving a lot of the limelight and develop into a star in his own right.

NXT stars like Bayley, Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura and reigning NXT Champion Samoa Joe are widely expected to be called up to the main roster soon, leaving WWE officials on the lookout for talent within their pool who could fill the void left by the departing stars.

WWE top brass in the form of Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, Ed Koskey, Joe Belcastro and others are keen on maintaining quality in NXT and see Itami as the perfect man to step up to the task.

With a wealth of wrestling experience behind him, Itami is sure to grab this opportunity with both hands.
