How prepared are the three teams to enter this dreaded structure?

What's the story?

At the conclusion of this week's episode of NXT, William Regal determined that at the next NXT Takeover event, Roderick Strong would team up with the Authors of Pain to take on The Undisputed Era and SAnitY in a rather special match.

For the first time since 1998, WarGames would return! All three of the teams reacted to the announcement. Neither seemed scared of the situation and the consequences.

In case you didn't know...

WarGames is a classic NWA/WCW tradition that involved two rings and a giant cage atop them. It could only end with one of the teams calling it quits or being unable to continue on.

The current match can end either by pinfall or submission, as determined by the rules posted by WWE. Each of the teams cut a promo about the match on WWE's YouTube channel.

The heart of the matter

The Undisputed Era, now featuring a bespectacled Bobby Fish said that they did not believe in starting a war they could not finish. Kyle O' Reilly said that WarGames was their platform to deliver on their promise and shock the system.

In trademark fashion, SAnitY's promo made little sense but displayed the fact that the foursome wasn't scared of NXT Takeover: WarGames and the highly dangerous structure. There was a lot more maniacal laughter during their promo than actual words being spoken.

Paul Ellering cut a promo on behalf of the Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong, a rather unlikely alliance. He reminded us that he was part of the first WarGames match. Ellering invited the other two teams to the home of the collective that he was leading!

Not literally their home, but this structure of pain, of course.

What's next?

With two weeks of NXT programming left, we're curious to see what the developments are, on the road to NXT Takeover: WarGames.

Author's take

I have been a lifelong WCW fan and grew up on a steady diet of Flair, Sting, the nWo, and Luge. I hope that WWE does justice to this classic concept. I know that Triple H idolizes the Four Horsemen, and will definitely try his best!
