Andrade 'Cien' Almas vs Johnny Gargano (for the NXT Championship)

The stakes couldn't be higher for Johnny Gargano ahead of this match - if he loses, he has to leave NXT. He came out with his wife, Candice LeRae next to him, ahead of one of the most important nights of his career.

The match started with a series of roll-up before we quickly headed to a commercial break. Almas was in control when we came back and he connected with a nasty looking back elbow. Gargano replied by sending Almas out to ringside and went for a suicide dive but Vega got in the way. Candice got in the ring and wiped Vega out with a suicide dive of her own. LeRae then chased Vega out of the arena.

Almas slammed Gargano onto the apron before locking in a rope-assisted armbar. Almas followed this with a period of domination until the next commercial break.

Gargano slowly got back into it after the break as he connected with his trademark rolling kick. He followed it up with a Hurracanrana after bouncing off the ropes. Gargano then hit the slingshot spear but couldn't get a cover. Almas replied with a Buckle Bomb. Almas then locked in the hammerlock but Gargano broke free.

After brawling on the outside, the two men then brawled at ringside. Back inside the ring, both men go for their finishers, each getting reversed. Almas then hit a running double knees in the corner to the back of Gargano's head. Still a 2-count. The two men continued to punish each other until Gargano hit a slingshot DDT for another 2 count. The two men supported each other as they got back on their feet. Almas hit Gargano with a chop and he replied with a superkick. Almas then went for a back elbow but knocked the referee out by mistake.

Gargano then put Almas in the Garga-No-Escape but the referee was down. Gargano's former tag-team partner, Tomasso Ciampa, ran into the ring at this point and hit Gargano with the crutch he was carrying. Almas got to his feet and finished Gargano off with the Hammerlock DDT. The referee crawled over to make the 3-count.

Andrade 'Cien' Almas def. Johnny Gargano

The look on Gargano's face told the story. Ciampa had cost him again, and this time, it looks like it's his place in NXT. Candice came out as was at Gargano's side as he said goodbye to the NXT Universe.

Is this the end for Johnny Wrestling in NXT?
