WWE NXT Results 28 February 2018, latest NXT winners, review and video highlights

After sending Johnny Gargano packing from NXT, how will Andrade 'Cien' Almas react? Also on the show, we got a match between Shayna Baszler and Kairi Sane.

Velveteen Dream vs Tyler Bate

This week's episode of NXT kicked off with a hotly anticipated match as Velveteen Dream took on former WWE UK Champion Tyler Bate.

The two men started out back and forth despite Dream's superior strength advantage. Bate rolled Dream up for a 1-count. Dream got back to his feet as we head to a break.

Dream was in control when we came back from the break. He tossed Bate across the room before hitting a Powerslam. He followed it with an elbow drop before going for a cocky cover, which Bate easily kicked out of. Dream followed up with an axe-handle from the middle rope before attempting a submission by applying the Camel Clutch to Bate.

Bate soon replied with his trademark airplane spin, but Dream broke free. Bate then levelled Dream and tried to hit the Tyler Driver 97 but Dream countered with a back drop. The duo then traded strikes in the middle of the ring. Dream headed to the top rope but Bate dislodged him with a dropkick. Bate then went to the top rope himself but Dream pushed him off, sending Bate crotch-first into the top rope.

Dream then hit the Purple Rainmaker from the top-rope for the win.

After the opening match, we saw a video of Johnny Gargano signing his papers of termination from NXT. We'll have to keep an eye on this storyline to see where it goes next. I'm still pretty sure that this will lead to Gargano vs Ciampa at TakeOver: New Orleans.

Cezar Bononi vs Adam Cole

The main story of the second match was Adam Cole offering Bononi an Undisputed Era t-shirt i.e. membership, in the same way he'd done to Taynara Conti months earlier. Cole clocked Bononi in the face before he could make his decision.

The match itself was really short and was mainly Bononi trying to deal with O'Reilly and Fish at the same time as Cole. Cole caught a distracted Bononi with a nasty looking superkick before hitting Bononi with a knee to the back of the head.

Cole then covered Bononi for the win.

Kairi Sane vs Shayna Baszler

Kairi and Shayna had a good match. Shayna dominated most of the match but Kairi showed sparks of resistance even though it wasn't enough in the end. Shayna's superior striking game took a toll on Kairi as the match reached its climax.

Kairi headed to the top rope for her flying elbow drop but was unable to hit it. Shayna knocked her off and immediately drove her into the mat before transitioning into her clutch finisher, forcing Sane to tap.

After the match, Shayna said that she would either leave with Ember Moon's title or with a limb, next time they wrestled.

Andrade celebrated his victory

Vega and Almas finish the show. Vega said that Almas was "Mr. 4-0". She berated Gargano for bringing friends and family to matches just to watch him lose. She said that unlike Gargano, Almas did;t need respect and had championships instead. Vega also took a shot at Candice, saying tthat unlike other women, she created success.

Almas took the mic to call Gargano "Johnny Jobless".

As Almas and Vega celebrated, making their way out, Aleister Black's music hit. Black came down to the ring from another entrance through the crowd. Black raised the mic and was about to speak when Killian Dain came down to the ring.

The two men brawled. Black went for the Black Mass but missed . Dain then hit The Divide as Almas and Vega made their way out.
