Heavy Machinery vs Kris Payne and Sean Maluta

NXT kicked off with the bruisers, Heavy Machinery, took on Kris Payne and former CWC competitor Sean Maluta. Dozovic and Knight flattened their opponents from the moment the bell rang and Dozovic got a particularly big pop when he did a worn channelling shades of Scotty 2 Hotty before hitting an elbow drop.

The two big men continued to steamroll their opponents till Dozovic mowed Maluta down before Heavy Machinery hit The Compactor for the win.

Kairi Sane vs Billie Kay

Chants of “Let’s go Kairi” started even before the bell rang. Kay talked trash after the bell rang but Kairi was having none of it. She dodged a clothesline before hitting a head scissors followed by a dropkick. Kay tried to reach Royce who was reaching through the ropes but Kairi kicked Kay’s hand away.

Kay used the distraction to hit Sane with a forearm for a 2-count. Kay then locked in a Torture Rack before dumping Kairi face-first into the turnbuckle. Kairi replied with a spear before hitting her with knife-edged double chops to the chest. Kairi followed it up her trademark sliding forearm in the corner for the nearfall.

Royce got on the apron but Kairi disposed of her easily. She planted Kay and hit the Insane Elbow from the top rope for the win.

Backstage interview Zelina Vega and Andrade 'Cien' Almas

Zelina Vega was asked what strategy she and Andrade had going into the match. Her reply was that she wouldn’t have been so successful if she gave away her plans and her secrets because the only “man” who knew her strategies was Andrade. She added that she and Andrade had met Drew face-to-face last week but he’d been no match for them.

Andrade was then asked what his relationship with Zelina was. She told Andrade that he didn’t need to answer that before adding that this version of Andrade was head and shoulders above everyone else.

Andrade then proclaimed himself to be the next champion.

Roderick Strong vs Adam Cole

Fresh from Roderick Strong betraying his former-ROH brothers on NXT last week, he was set to face Adam Cole in NXT’s main-event. The two locked up early on before a double leg takedown from Strong floored Adam Cole. Strong continued in side control before Cole popped out. He made the mistake of shoving Roddy in the chest which only fuelled Roddy’s fire. Roddy then hit a dropkick that sent Cole rolling out of the ring. After continuing the fight at ringside, Cole rolled back in and pulled the referee between himself and Strong before hitting Roddy with a Superkick as we headed to commercial.

Cole was in complete control when we came back from the break. Cole followed an Irish Whip into the turnbuckles with a chin lock. Cole then locked in a sleeper before Roddy got back to his feet and hit a Pendulum Backbreaker. Roddy followed it with a jumping lariat before hitting a forearm in the corner. He followed with another backbreaker for a nearfall. Cole hit an enziguri out of nowhere for a nearfall of his own before the two men got to their feet and traded strikes and counters.

Cole then hit a neckbreaker before Roddy planted Cole on the top turnbuckle. Fish and O’Reilly came out to intervene, causing Strong to win by DQ.
