Would Cameron Grimes "Swerve" Full Sail with a victory tonight?

We continued the NXT Breakout tonight with two of the best cruiserweights around. Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, known in the indies as Shane Strickland and Killshot in Lucha Underground, faced a dangerous opponent in the former Trevor Lee, now Cameron Grimes. The winner of this match would advance to the next round, where they'd face the winner of last week's bout, Angel Garza.

Isaiah "Swerve" Scott vs Cameron Grimes

Grimes took Scott to the ground with a rear waist lock. Scott broke away, countering with a side headlock. Grimes turned it around with a wrist lock, where both men traded control. Grimes tried to shoot Scott off into the ropes, but he held the hold, bringing Grimes down to the mat.

Scott launched Grimes into the ropes, but the heavy striker was able to connect with an elbow to the back. In the corner, Scott shoved Grimes away, connecting with a roll-up, then tossed Grimes with a headscissors and a dropkick to the jaw. A right hand rocked Grimes, and he was hit with a leaping elbow drop from the top rope.

Grimes broke away from another submission hold, catching Scott in the ropes with an arm breaker. He then brought Scott into the corner, where he worked over the arm with a seated wristlock. Scott broke away, only to be sent into the ropes, rebounding into a brutal lariat.

After a few minutes, Scott was able to break away, and when Grimes climbed up top, he was snatched from on high with a leaping hurricanrana. A series of clotheslines stunned Grimes, but he was able to toss Scott to the outside. Still, Scott landed hand first on the apron, and leaped onto his feet on the outside.

Grimes rushed out, but Scott leaped back inside, and caught him back on the apron with a handstand body splash. A rolling flatliner gave Scott a two-count. Another strong right hand rocked Grimes, but he avoided a springboard maneuver, catching Scott with a sit-out powerbomb.

Scott broke out of the pin, and stunned his opponent with a series of kicks. Following Grimes outside, Scott connected with the Fosbury Flop. He rolled Grimes inside, where the two traded more kicks. Grimes managed to shock Scott, turning a running crossbody into a powerslam. The running double stomp spelled the end for "Swerve."

Results: Cameron Grimes defeated Isaiah "Swerve" Scott via pinfall.
