The first two North American Champions battled in an epic main event match tonight
The first two North American Champions battled in an epic main event match tonight

Next week, Velveteen Dream will challenge Johnny Gargano for the NXT North American Championship.

However, this left Adam Cole and Ricochet a bit miffed, as both men felt they had claims to the championship.

Follow Sportskeeda for the latest WWE news, rumors and all other wrestling news.

Ricochet felt that he deserved a rematch against the man he lost the championship to at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix and Adam Cole was on a mission to bring all the gold to the Undisputed Era.

Tonight, both men had a chance to prove themselves right, as they went one-on-one in the main event. Would Ricochet be able to overcome the numbers game, or would the Undisputed Era get back on track?

Dijakovic shoved Thorne into the corner early, but Thorne raked his eyes, then pulled his arm in between the ropes.

Thorne continued to work Dijakovic's right arm until he finally brought him down with a dropkick. The Mighty One was eventually stunned by Dijakovic, who caught him with a couple of elbow strikes followed by a clothesline.

Dijakovic launched him across the ring with a suplex toss. He went for a chokeslam, but Thorne attacked the arm again, following up with a European uppercut and a Saito suplex.

Thorne went up top, and though he was cut off by his opponent, managed to shake him off. Dijakovic landed on his feet, superkicking Thorne off the top and leaping outside, crashing down on top of him.

Finally, Dijakovic put away his opponent with the Feast Your Eyes.

Results: Dominic Dijakovic defeated Shane Thorne via pinfall.

Backstage, the Undisputed Era talked about their rough start in 2019, only calling their recent losses minor speed bumps. The four men said that their plan is still what it has been since the new year; to walk into 2020 with all of the gold.

Tonight, Adam Cole will face off against Ricochet, hoping to challenge for the NXT North American Championship after knocking off the former champ.

Kassius Ohno let the Full Sail crowd know how he really felt
Kassius Ohno let the Full Sail crowd know how he really felt

An interview with Io Shirai and Kairi Sane from last week was played, where both of them claimed that they'd take Shayna Baszler's NXT Women's Championship. Bianca Belair interrupted them, claiming that she deserved another shot at Baszler after nearly beating Baszler by herself in the six-woman tag match.

Kassius Ohno interrupted a tag match between Humberto Carrillo & Stacey Erwin Jr. and the Street Profits before Dawkins and Ford even made their entrance. Ohno said that the NXT crowd made him sick before claiming that he's leaving the company.

The Knockout Artist said he was leaving to prove that he's the best to ever do it in another company before turning around into an elbow from Keith Lee.

Lee said it could've been worse, as he could've hit him in the "dangly bits" just like Ohno did in their match a month ago. With Ohno kicked out officially, the Street Profits finally came out.

Humberto Carrillo & Stacey Ervin Jr. vs The Street Profits

Carrillo started off with Ford, managing to overpower his opponent early on. Ford's speed helped even out the bout, though, as both men seemed evenly matched. They shook hands in the middle of the ring, but Ford kicked Carrillo in the gut, bringing Dawkins in with a tag.

The Street Profits tagged in and out, beating down the newest 205 Live star. Carrillo eventually managed to get back in the match, avoiding an attack in the corner.

Ford tagged in Dawkins, but he was immediately stunned by a spinning roundhouse kick. Carrillo tagged in Ervin, who landed a standing shooting star press. Dawkins kicked out at two.

Ervin went for an attack off the ropes but was pulled back into a spear by Dawkins. Ford tagged in and attempted a pin. Ervin kicked out at two.

Ford managed to keep Ervin locked down, preventing any high flying maneuvers with headlocks and other holds.

A vicious back suplex dropped Ervin on his neck. He avoided a double team maneuver and tagged in Carrillo, who cleaned house.

Carrillo sent Ford outside with a springboard arm drag while the freshly tagged in Dawkins was left on his back after a missile dropkick and a standing moonsault.

Carrillo and Ervin seemed to have Dawkins multiple times, with a beautiful high angle moonsault from Ervin nearly putting him away.

However, Dawkins managed to fight back and tagged in Ford for the Doomsday Device Neckbreaker for the win.

Results: Street Profits defeated Carrillo & Ervin Jr. via pinfall.

After the match, Ford and Dawkins said that their run with NXT has been a rollercoaster, and although there have been some downs, it's been a fun ride. Ford said that, at any time, they're ready to go to war.

They challenged the NXT Tag Team Champions, only to be interrupted by the European Union and Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch.

The War Raiders came out and said that there's no reason to wait for another night, as they made their way towards the ring.

Before they could get there, they were beaten down by the Undisputed Era. UE sent the Raiders into the ring, and even though they were hurt, they managed to eliminate all three teams from the ring.

Hanson and Rowe stood tall in the ring as the UE backed up the ramp, furious that their plan didn't work.

The women's division seemed to be shifting around a bit, with big stars like the Sky Pirates, Bianca Belair, and Mia Yim.

And with Baszler suffering a pinfall loss last week, many of the female stars are looking to make a mark in hopes of being next in line. However, Baszler wouldn't take that loss lightly, as someone needed to pay for the transgressions of Io Shirai.

Taynara Conti vs Aliyah

Aliyah, against better judgment, went in to take down Conti, who quickly brought her down with an armbar.

Aliyah managed to fight to the ropes before it was locked in. Aliyah countered a rolling elbow with a straight right punch, followed by a hair pulling mat slam.

Vanessa Bourne made her way down to the ring to watch the action as Aliyah dropped Conti with a fireman's carry slam.

Conti avoided a running big boot, sending Aliyah face first into the turnbuckle followed by three arm wrenching judo throws and a kick to the face.

Conti went up top, and when Aliyah went to stop her, was locked into an armbar for her troubles. The ref was distracted by Aliyah, allowing Bourne to prevent Conti from going up again. Aliyah launched Conti across the ring and locked in the Aliyah-Nation for the win.

Results: Aliyah defeated Taynara Conti via submission.

They weren't allowed to celebrate long in the ring as Shayna Baszler made her way down, followed by Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke, who beat down both Bourne and Aliyah.

Baszler then set her sights on Conti, leveling her with a running knee and a gut wrench facebuster.

Baszler grabbed a mic and said that this is the reality now. Her advice to the women's roster? Don't piss them off.

The One and Only looked to prove he deserved a rematch against Johnny Gargano
The One and Only looked to prove he deserved a rematch against Johnny Gargano

Adam Cole said earlier in the night that in order to jumpstart Undisputed Era's 2019 plan, he first needed to defeat Ricochet and earn a shot at the NXT North American Championship. Ricochet looked to earn a rematch for the title that he lost in a hard-fought match with Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix.

Who would emerge victoriously and be next in line for the title after the championship match next week?

Adam Cole vs Ricochet

Adam Cole brought Ricochet to the corner early, but the One and Only fought out quickly. Both men traded elbow strikes, but Ricochet took Cole outside with a dropkick to the outside followed by a suicide dive.

Back inside, Cole went up top, only to be stunned by an enziguri. Cole slammed Ricochet's face on the turnbuckle, then rolled over him to deliver a superkick to Richocket's face.

The former champion stumbled off the turnbuckle awkwardly, getting his left leg tangled up. Cole stomped on his knee, then slammed his leg into the ring post. Cole twisted Ricochet's leg in the ropes then brought him out to the middle of the ring with a dragon screw leg whip.

Ricochet was left on the mat struggling to connect with any offensive maneuvers. Cole avoided an enziguri and slammed his left knee into the mat.

Ricochet attempted to escape to all four corners of the ring, but couldn't escape the punishment of Adam Cole.

A kneeling knee bar was interrupted by a kick to Cole's face. However, when he stood up, Cole dropkicked his left leg, sending him back down to the mat once again.

Ricochet avoided a back suplex, landing on his feet, though he stumbled. He fought Cole off and went for a rolling cutter, but his knee buckled.

Ricochet managed to avoid Cole and level him with a clothesline. A tiger feint kick followed by a springboard clothesline nearly put Cole away, and after a standing moonsault, he went for the pin. Cole kicked out.

Back to his feet, Cole kicked Ricochet in the left knee, then placed him on the top rope. Ricochet tried to fight him off, but was caught by an enziguri, then dropped across Cole's knee with the Ushigoroshi. Ricochet kicked out, barely, and Cole felt that the time was near.

Ricochet avoided multiple maneuvers from Cole, planting him with a northern lights suplex. However, his knee buckled again during the second attempt, allowing Cole to connect with the kneeling brainbuster.

Cole measured Ricochet and went for the Last Shot, but Ricochet avoided. A superkick to the gut stunned Ricochet, but he avoided the second one to the face, spiking him head first with a reverse hurricanrana.

Ricochet struggled towards the apron and rolled over Cole with a springboard senton. Cole kicked out. Ricochet picked him up in the fireman's carry position, but Cole fought out. They began trading elbows again, but a cheap shot from Cole to his opponent's knee left him on the ground.

Ricochet attempted the Pele Kick, only for Cole to dodge and catch him with a superkick to the jaw. Ricochet kicked out.

Cole brought Ricochet over to the corner and hammered him with fists at the top. Ricochet escaped, but Cole went after his knee again, leaving him with one wheel on the apron. Cole brought Ricochet back inside, but the One and Only fought back, sending him across the ring with the super hurricanrana.

An ax kick followed by the northern lights suplex/vertical suplex/Vertigo combo sealed the deal.

Results: Ricochet defeated Adam Cole via pinfall.

The Undisputed Era ran in to beat down Ricochet. Aleister Black attempted to make the save, but a kick by Cole and the End of Heartache by Roderick Strong to end the show.
