5 Superstars who deserve to be pushed this year

Rusev

There is no denying that WWE has one of the most talented rosters a wrestling promotion can hope to have.

However, WWE have been guilty of not making the best use of their superstars on more than one occasion. Many wrestling fans have shown their disappointment and anger at times when a superstar gets shoved down the pecking order even though that particular Superstar has shown to be main event material.

Even as you read this article I am certain that there will be at least a few names which come to mind.

WWE have to ensure that they stop repeating this mistake. In this article, we will look at 5 superstars who really deserve a push this year.

#1 Elias

Elias has become one of the most popular competitors on Monday Night Raw

Elias has become one of the most interesting and popular Superstars in the WWE. The creative team at WWE need to take notice of this and get Elias competing higher up the order.

He is currently floating around the mid-card scene without any meaningful feuds to make mention of. There were thoughts that he would partner Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 34 but he was used as a punching bag for John Cena at the event instead.

Elias is being wasted and there is no denying that. He does not need to be in the title picture just yet, but the WWE does need to begin pushing him towards this.

A good way in which this could be done would be to have him feud with Seth Rollins and eventually win the Intercontinental Championship. He could use this as a stepping stone towards winning the Universal Championship - which would be an interesting title run indeed.

#2 Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe could set be set to miss the Royal Rumble through injury

Samoa Joe's run in the WWE has been riddled with injuries over the past few months. This has seen Joe take somewhat of a back seat to other Superstars while he has been away. But the WWE needs to waste no time in getting him into a meaningful feud now that he is back.

Joe has been drafted to SmackDown Live and this opens up a lot more opportunities for him to dominate. Roman Reigns is clearly going to rule Monday Night Raw for the foreseeable future, and at 39 years of age, Joe is unlikely to be hanging around for too long in a full-time capacity.

A feud with Rusev would be really interesting to watch and the WWE needs to take note of the enormous potential that such a feud would have for both Superstars. Both Rusev and Joe are in need of a push and a rivalry between these two athletes might be just what they need to gain some momentum.

Another idea could be to pair Joe and Rusev together as a tag-team. There is no denying that this would be a powerful duo who could dominate the tag-team division before they eventually use that momentum.

#3 Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch

Another Superstar who is currently being wasted on SmackDown Live is Becky Lynch. She is not currently involved in any major storylines, has not come anywhere close to winning the title in recent months and doesn't seem to be going anywhere with her character.

A decent push would give Lynch a chance to get back into the title picture or at least get into a decent feud which can put her in the main event scene. She is simply too talented to be wasted as she is on SmackDown Live and should be used in a more effective manner.

The best way to overcome this issue would be to get her involved in a meaningful feud with another Superstar. Charlotte would be a great Superstar for Lynch to feud with and it would give her character a much-needed boost.

A heel turn for Lynch would also be interesting. It is highly unlikely that Lynch will become a top babyface in the WWE regardless of whichever brand she is a part of. This makes it even more necessary to allow Lynch to turn heel as this will give her the chance to become a more established character in WWE.

#4 Rusev

Rusev is one of the biggest Superstars to make an impact in WWE but one has to feel that he has been drastically misused.

He has been partnering Aiden English on SmackDown Live and it feels as if this pairing has now run its course. Rusev should be challenging for a title and it doesn't look as if he will be a contender for any of the titles on SmackDown Live.

It certainly does not make sense that he has not featured in the main event scene on a more regular basis. Rusev is a wonderful athlete and the WWE Universe have taken a liking to the superstar as well as the now famous "Rusev Day" which WWE are not capitalizing on.

If the WWE are keen on keeping Rusev paired with Aiden English, it would be a good idea for the duo to challenge for the SmackDown Live tag team titles. They could also enter into a feud with The New Day or The Usos to build up some momentum before they eventually challenge for the tag-team titles.

An eventual solo run for Rusev is not a bad option either but one has to feel that WWE has not invested enough in building up Rusev's character as a solo performer at this point.

#5 Bobby Roode

Bobby Roode is another Superstar who needs his character to be refreshed. His run on SmackDown Live has lacked the excitement and intensity which might have been expected and a decent push might be exactly what Roode needs to get some momentum back.

He does not need to challenge for a title, but it would be interesting to see Roode as a heel. This might not be a popular decision for some fans, but there is no denying that a heel run would put more focus and attention on Roode.

Another option might be to have him form a stable with two other Superstars. Sheamus and Cesaro received a massive push when they were paired up and even won the Raw tag-team titles a number of times.

Both Superstars were drifting along the mid-card before they were paired up but have since become much more of an attraction than they were before they teamed up.

A similar pairing for Roode might be exactly what he needs. With Roode now being a part of Raw, there are several new feuds which he can enter into in order to become a more recognized star within the WWE.

A feud between Roode and Rollins would make for very interesting viewing and might give Roode the momentum which he requires right now. This would also be a great stepping stone to him eventually challenging for the Universal title.
