It is clear that the WWE are seeking to grow their current fan base by gaining more exposure and popularity in countries outside of the United States of America. There is nothing wrong with this as it makes sense for an established wrestling brand such as the WWE to try to expand their global reach and interest.

Jinder Mahal becoming the WWE champion was one of the most shocking turns which the WWE have taken in recent times. This was done in view of the tour to India which was planned and having Mahal as the champion would increase the WWE's viewership in India.

After the WWE's live tour to India, it became clear that wrestling is a sport which does indeed have a huge following in the Asian country. Recent times have even seen the WWE sign their very first Indian female wrestler - Kavita Devi. Devi is currently on NXT but it doesn't seem as if though she will have to wait for too long until she is called up to the main roster.

It is therefore clear that the WWE does have an Indian fan base to work with. The question which now comes to mind is how they can grow this fan base. Last month, the WWE held their much-anticipated pay-per-view event in Saudi Arabia - The Greatest Royal Rumble. Although the event was riddled with controversy as well as numerous botches, the WWE have shown an interest in returning there on a more regular basis.

If those are the plans for Saudi Arabia, what are the WWE's plans for India? The live tour received a lot of positive reactions so it would make sense for the suits in upper management in WWE headquarters to consider giving India their own exclusive pay per view event as they did with Saudi Arabia?

Having an Indian equivalent of The Greatest Royal Rumble is definitely the way to go. Indian fans have been loyal followers of the WWE for years and this loyalty does need to be rewarded. Wrestling promotions in India aren't exactly a common sight and a lot of Indian fans would be neglected if the WWE limited their appearances in the country to the occasional live show.

This is also something which would further promote the sport in the country. Opportunities for anyone living in India to become a wrestler are somewhat limited and regular appearances by the WWE may help with India's own wrestling promotions coming up in numbers.

Whichever way you look at it, having a regular pay-per-view in India is a consideration which the WWE simply cannot ignore. The reason behind the Greatest Royal Rumble taking place in Saudi Arabia was that the Saudi General Sports Authority signed a 10-year contract with the WWE to hold wrestling competitions in the kingdom.

Therefore, blaming the WWE entirely would be unfair. However, there is absolutely no reason why the WWE cannot enter into a similar agreement in India and promote their brand as well as the sport.
