WWE Power Rankings: April 5, 2014

The week is going to be concluded with WrestleMania which meant that the weekly Power Rankings published by WWE.com and Academy of Wrestling Arts and Science would be subjected to some changes. However, the magnitude of those changes was kept to a minimum as WWE decided to book their superstars in such a way as to save the best for the Sunday. The matches werent in plenty to be precise on Raw and SmackDown and the ones from the lot didnt impress as well. So here is a look at how the Power Rankings shaped up after all that.

#25 Los Matadores (Previous Rank - Nil)

These WWE segments are not for kids - Watch here 😏

The Matadores got some quality television time on both Raw and SmackDown. They ended up on the winning side on Raw and fell prey to Real Americans in SmackDown. However, Sunday will be the real test for the trio as they will be gifted with a chance to get their WrestleMania moment.

#24 Sin Cara (Previous Rank - 24)

Ad

Sin Cara had some interesting confrontation with Rey Mysterio in Piper’s pit before being cleaned out from the ring. He will be looking to avoid that at WrestleMania and also managed to keep his spot intact this week.

#23 Funkadactyls (Previous Rank - 23)

Ad

Naomi had a great win against AJ Lee on Raw and it sets up her in a great way as they head to WrestleMania. However, at the grand stage it’s going to be everyone battling for one title which may expose the possible cracks between the two.

#22 Mark Henry (Previous Rank - 21)

Ad

The World Strongest man stayed away from all the chaos that went down at Piper’s pit. But he will be getting into the Andre the Giant battle royal with only one thing in mind: to win it. He slips however in the Power Rankings and falls to 21st.

#21 Tamina (Previous Rank - 22)

Ad

Tamina rose to prominence once again this week as she was the one who fended off the hungry divas away to save AJ Lee. She will be having a clear advantage heading to WrestleMania also since she has been closely associated with the champion for a long time now.

#20 Nikki Bella (Previous Rank - 19)

Ad

Bella took a fall in Main Event against Tamina which took off her momentum that was being built up. She would have to raise her game and keep the loss apart now if she has to get out of WrestleMania with the Divas Title around her waist.

#19 Rhodes Brothers (Previous Rank - 20)

Ad

The Rhodes Brothers were paired up after a couple of weeks to face Damien Sandow and Fandango. The former champions came out with a win from the night but it will be every man for himself at the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal.

#18 AJ Lee (Previous Rank - 16)

Ad

AJ got the bad news that she will be defending against 13 other divas at WrestleMania. and more pain was added to her misery when Naomi got a win in the lumber Jill match. AJ promised that she’ll have the title with her after WrestleMania and only time will tell if she keeps her promise or not.

#17 Real Americans (Previous Rank - 17)

Ad

Zeb Colter’s men started off the week on a bad note thanks to some twin magic by the Los Matadores. But they made up for the loss and got a good win against Matadores in SmackDown. Colter’s unorthodox methods of motivating his men were at the centre stage again which teased an eventual split.

#16 Dolph Ziggler (Previous Rank-18)

Ad

The Show Off continued his great run this week after getting a win over Titus O’Neil on SmackDown. He also had a role to play in the Piper’s pit and will be looking to pile up all the momentum to snatch the trophy at WrestleMania

#15 Brie Bella (Previous Rank - 13)

Ad

The Total Divas star will be having the night of her life at WrestleMania when both she and her fiancé will be looking to come home with the gold. Brie have to fend off 13 other divas including her sister to get to that and it is not going to be an easy task.

#14 Alberto Del Rio (Previous Rank - 15)

Ad

The former World Champion had a go at the reigning Intercontinental champion this week and made full use of the opportunity presented to him. Del Rio got a well-earned win and he now has a lot of momentum as he will be looking to bring home the Andre the Giant trophy.

#13 The New Age Outlaws (Previous Rank - 14)

Ad

Henchmen of Kane ran down and interfered in his match against Roman Reigns. Keeping outlaws out of the ring apparently was a great decision as they had to be kept fresh for WrestleMania. Outlaws however goes into the match with nothing else than a possible loss on the card.

#12 Big Show (Previous Rank - 10)

Ad

Show has been hyped as a big favorite to win the battle Royal throughout the buildup and this week was no different as well. Piper’s pit saw him take centre stage again and it will all be worth it if Show actually wins the whole thing.

#11 Sheamus (Previous Rank - 11)

Ad

The Celtic Warrior had a lot of exchanges with the Miz on Main event which ended with the Awesome one getting a big brogue kick. Sheamus promised the same would happen on Sunday night and sowed the seeds for a potential feud between the two.

#10 Undertaker (Previous Rank - 9)

Ad

The Phenom made appearance this week only to be knocked out by Brock Lesnar. This was the first time we saw Taker take an offence after his return which doesn’t cover up the bad booking which the WWE employed throughout the feud.

#9 Brock Lesnar (Previous Rank - 12)

Ad

Lesnar got the upper hand over Taker this week but he still goes into the match at WrestleMania as an underdog no matter how well he is hyped by Paul Heyman. The chances of Streak breaking are cut short and the predictability makes the match stale.

#8 The Shield (Previous Rank - 8)

Ad

The WWE Universe chose Roman Reigns as the opponent of Kane on Raw and the big Samoan gave Kane a run for his money. The interaction of Outlaws made things a bit interesting as well but Shield goes into WrestleMania as the clear favorites.

#7 Big E (Previous Rank - 6)

Ad

Preparations for WrestleMania didn’t go that well for the Intercontinental champion this week. He ended up losing to Alberto Del Rio in a non-title match and it also was the match were he got his momentum robbed.

#6 The Usos (Previous Rank - 7)

Ad

The tag team champions ended up on the winning side of the eight man tag team match on Raw which puts them in a good place heading into WrestleMania. Rikishi’s sons however will be having a much bigger challenge once three teams will be looking to snatch the gold from them.

#5 John Cena (Previous Rank - 5)

Ad

The Cenation leader showed off his revenge part this week as he came in wearing a sheep mask and took out the Wyatt Family. Cena will now be looking to overcome his fears and keep his legacy at piece once he steps in the ring to face Bray at WrestleMania.

#4 Batista (Previous Rank - 4)

Ad

After getting slapped by Stephanie McMahon last week, the Animal had some more exchange of words with Authority. Match with the Randy Orton wasn’t anything spectacular as well since it was overshadowed by Daniel Bryan who came out of nowhere.

#3 Randy Orton (Previous Rank - 2)

Ad

The Viper had a no disqualification match against Batista on Raw which ended up being a no contest. Orton failed to evoke emotions with the mic in the week also and heads into WrestleMania with the least momentum as possible.

#2 Daniel Bryan (Previous Rank - 3)

Ad

After last week’s absence, Bryan finally made his return this week. The WWE looked like they were heading for another day without the flying goat, until he poked out of nowhere and smashed Hunter. The fans were clearly enjoying the moment and they will be looking for something similar at WrestleMania

#1 Wyatt Family (Previous Rank - 1)

Ad

The Creepy guys had an uncalled guest this week when Cena decided to crash the victory part. The decision of WWE to make the whole thing a bit humerus went wrong and took away the impact it was supposed to make. Bray will be thus having a lot of ground to cover at WrestleMania after the recent mess up.
