WWE RAW: 5 Reasons why The AoP attacked Kevin Owens but spared Seth Rollins

The end of RAW gave us more questions than answers
The end of RAW gave us more questions than answers

This week's episode of RAW was pretty awesome and I would be shocked if you did not feel the same as well. I mean, we got Rey Mysterio vs. AJ Styles, Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka and in the main event, Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens.

And then just when the match was picking up pace, The AoP would crash the party. They would take the fight to Kevin Owens and destroy him, leaving him in a heap in the middle of the ring.

And while Seth Rollins welcomed the fight to follow, it just seemed like the two men retreated without picking a fight with The Beast Slayer. Please leave a comment and let me know why you believed this was the case in the section below.

And I also invite you guys to rate every match from RAW at this link!

#5 Keeping us guessing as to whether Seth Rollins is a heel

The fact of the matter is that as good as Survivor Series was, it gave us only one reason to tune in to RAW. To witness the humiliation of the Red Brand once the show was done and dusted, because NXT were the clear winners at Survivor Series.

But now, with the ending of the show happening in the manner that it did, we have yet another reason to tune in for the following week's episode of WWE RAW.

WWE is a soap opera for the adult male (and females too, in recent times) and you need to keep the audience engaged from week to week. We have been left with the cliffhanger of whether or not Seth Rollins has become a complete heel.

His actions have not confirmed his future direction, one way or the other, and the following weeks should answer our questions with certainty.

#4 Bringing back the AoP to the roster with a lot of momentum

We all remember what a travesty it was when The AoP was paired with Drake Maverick not long ago. You had these two monsters from NXT who were absolutely unstoppable, practically watered down (quite literally) with a manager who urinated whenever confronted by a threat.

This was not the spot for these two men and the world knew it. I'm glad that they're in a program with Kevin Owens and perhaps even Seth Rollins!

You are known by the company you keep. The Revival did not create an instant impact in the main roster upon their arrival but their association first with Shane McMahon and later with Randy Orton certainly moved them up a few paces!

Maybe the same could also happen with The AoP, who do not have the wily genius of Paul Ellering by their side urging them on to do evil deeds.

#3 Tease of a new heel faction on RAW

So now let's go back to the possibility of whether Seth Rollins will become a heel in the days that follow. SmackDown has a very interesting heel faction in Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, and Robert Roode and by the same token, RAW has The OC.

But I do believe that if Rollins were to go heel, he would thrive within a faction as he did with The Authority not long ago. It doesn't make sense to go back to the well again because of the goodwill that Triple H has garnered with the NXT brand.

The AoP are not independent darlings and chances are that they won't get cheered in the months to follow at all. Which is why Seth Rollins will get additional heat if he's in a faction with the two men involved.

But for this to happen, Seth Rollins needs to go heel soon. This is a wise decision if you consider the crowd reception he gets these days.

#2 Building babyface sympathy for Owens

How much can one truly trust Kevin Owens? This is a man who has betrayed partner after partner in the past. Whenever the audience gets used to the idea of Kevin Owens as a babyface, he showcases his true colors and his evil core almost at once.

But, with the beatdown from the AoP, I suppose it is clear now that he is the victim on this occasion. WWE can choose to book this in a roundabout way where it is finally revealed that it was a ruse and that Kevin Owens is in charge of the two brutes. It will be a mistake if that is done because who in his right mind would want to get beaten up?

The world has still not forgiven Kevin Owens for turning his back on Kofi Kingston. Now, they have a chance to see that he's not all that bad when confronted by more despicable heels.

#1 So that neither man would be pinned

WWE sometimes goes out of their way to protect their talent, as you guys are certainly well aware. A classic case is Randy Orton interfering in the United States Championship match when the referee was down to help Rey Mysterio become the United States Champion.

The simple fact of the matter is that WWE didn't want either Kevin Owens or Seth Rollins to be defeated in this match. Like it or not, Seth Rollins is the biggest star on RAW with Brock Lesnar's absence, while Kevin Owens will need to become the top babyface if Rollins does indeed go heel in due course of time.

And so this finish happened in the manner that it did to ensure neither man was pinned on WWE RAW. The match ended with a disqualification which is fine, honestly.

The real story is about to begin, I guess!
