The boys are back
The boys are back

This week's episode of RAW was the go-home show for TLC and it did not disappoint. It kicked off with The Shield and ended with The Shield with a title match inbetween. The main-event featured Roman Reigns taking on Braun Strowman inside a steel cage with a huge stipulation added during RAW.

Kurt Angle reintroduces The Shield

Kurt Angle came down to the ring to start RAW and took to the mic. He announced that The Shield reunited last week when their iconic music hit. Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns showed up in the crowd, in their iconic ring gear, as they walked down to the ring through the crowd in a goosebump-inducing moment.

They took to the ring as Kurt walked away. Ambrose cut a scintillating promo after Reigns and Rollins had their say. He said that he may have spoken out of line when he said that the three of them could take on 5, 6 guys, but he would say it again if he had to.

Strowman, The Bar and The Miz came out after this and a frantic Kurt Angle kept the 7 men apart, saying that RAW would not devolve into chaos.

Overall, it was an epic start to the show.

Ladies and gentlemen, Elias

The Club joined Elias on stage

Elias was introduced next and the maestro was flanked by Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Anderson and Gallows started to do a pretty brilliant rendition of the Honky Tonk Man’s theme before the three men started their own original song dissing Jason Jordan.

They were interrupted by Jordan, Apollo Crews and Titus O’Neil.

Elias, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs Jason Jordan, Apollo Crews and Titus O’Neil

The match started well for the babyfaces who cleared house in minutes to stand tall as we headed for the first commercial.

When we got back from the break, Apollo Crews tagged in Jason Jordan. He deposited Anderson in opposite corners before hitting a Belly-To-Belly for a two-count. Apollo tagged himself in and hit Anderson with the Spinning Sitout Powerbomb for the win.

A surprise for me as I was expecting the heels to go over. A nice, quick match but the obligatory break that splits the match really took me out of it.

Emma was backstage dissing Asuka when Alexa Bliss showed up. Bliss pumped Emma up, thanking her for starting the Women’s Revolution. Alexa then accused Mickie James of bodyshaming her before commenting on their tag-team match later in the night, imploring on Mickie to find a partner.

Cedric Alexander (w/ Rich Swann) vs Jack Gallagher (w/ Brian Kendrick)

Rich Swann joined Cedric Alexander to even up the numbers game as soon as the match was about to start.

Cedric started off strong but a quick distraction from Kendrick caused Gallagher to come in from behind and take him down with a cheapshot. The Gentleman booted Alexander around as he hit kicks to the chest before locking in a crank headlock.

Alexander hit back with a back elbow before hitting back with a Handstand Springboard Enzeguiri (which Michel Cole called a Big Boot) before Kendrick tried to intervene. Swann hit Kendrick with a Tornado DDT. Alexander hit Gallagher with the Lumbar Check for the win.

Miz TV with special guest Braun Strowman

The Miz came out flanked by Curtis Axel and The Bar for Miz TV. They were greeted by “Curtis Axel” chants before Miz got the show on the road. The Miz addressed The Shield, calling them a nostalgia act before Cesaro tore into them as best as he could.

Miz then introduced the man of the hour, Braun Strowman. Strowman came out and said that he would lock the door to the cage later in the night so that there would be no escape for Roman Reigns.

Miz told fans that The Shield had no chance and was about to add a 5th partner to their team. Kurt Angle interrupted and said in no uncertain terms that a 5th member would not be added despite The Miz’s protestations. They finally came to an agreement – if Braun beat Roman, a 5th member would be added but if Braun lost it would be back to 3 on 3.

Also, everybody was banned from ringside.

Sasha Banks vs Alicia Fox

Sasha made Alicia tap last week to eliminate her in the match to determine who would face Asuka. Alicia had revenge on her mind as she faced Sasha again.

Sasha locked in the Banks Statement as soon as the match began but thankfully for Foxy, she reached the ropes. She recovered well after the backbreaker, hitting a backbreaker before locking in a headlock.

However, Sasha manoeuvred a head scissors into another Banks Statement for the win.

Enzo Amore calls out Kalisto

Enzo Amore came out without the Cruiserweight title that he lost last week. Enzo ranted at everyone from Kurt Angle to Mustafa Ali when he was interrupted by Kalisto.

Kalisto headed down to the ring and told Enzo that he never shut up. He then added that Enzo could blame whoever he wanted but his excuses would run out at TLC. Kalisto got blindsided by Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, Ariya Daivari and Noam Dar.

The five of them were in the process of beating down Kalisto when Mustafa Ali came down. He hit Nese with a head scissors before Superkicking Gulak. Ali then got inside the ring but he was quickly overpowered as Enzo and his mates beat down Ali and Kalisto.

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose (C) vs Sheamus and Cesaro (for the RAW Tag-Team Championships)

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose put their tag titles on the line

Dean Ambrose and Sheamus started us off in this heated match. Things were at a 100 from the moment the match began as Ambrose stomped Sheamus in the corner. Dean followed it up with chops across the chest before tagging in Seth as they cleared house before we headed to commercial.

Sheamus hit an Irish Curse Backbreaker on Rollins as we came back from commercial. He then tagged Cesaro in and they hit a double kick to Rollins. One cheapshot from Sheamus later, Rollins kicked out at 2 and a half. Seth desperately tried to reach the ropes but Cesaro stopped him in his tracks and booted Ambrose off the apron.

When Rollins reached his corner, Ambrose was down at ringside and Sheamus had gotten tagged in. Sheamus and Cesaro double-teamed Rollins for a nearfall before Rollins sidestepped Sheamus who crashed shoulder-first into the ringpost. Rollins then sent Cesaro toppling over the top rope and tagged in the Lunatic Fringe.

Dean did what he does best as he took Cesaro down with his unorthodox style, hitting a swinging neckbreaker. He then launched Cesaro into the corner before Seth and Dean hit stereo suicide dives.

Back in the ring, Sheamus hit Seth with a Tilt-A-Whirk backbreaker before The Bar double-teamed Ambrose for another nearfall, with Seth breaking up the count.

Rollins came in and hit Cesaro with the King’s Landing and Dean followed it up with the Dirty Deeds for the win. The Shield are as hot as expected on their return and WWE should continue this reunion till WrestleMania.

Finn Balor addresses Bray Wyatt

Finn was out next and he got a big pop from the fans in attendance, as always. Finn took the mic and he responded to Bray revealing Sister Abigail last week. Balor revealed the story of a Celtic legend and like said legend, he would destroy Bray with his own demon, a demon of his own creation.

As Finn finished his promo, his face changed to a new demon paint before going back to normal. That was a really cool effect. I just hope this “demon” is a little different from what Finn always is, at least move-set wise a couple of tweaks will help.

Emma and Alexa Bliss vs Mickie James and Bayley

The newest member of the Native American Music Hall Of Fame, Mickie James, teamed up with Bayley to take on Alexa and Emma. Not much happened in the match before the mandatory commercial break a minute into the match but it picked up afterwards.

Emma drove Bayley spine0first into the barricade before rolling her back into the ring. Bayley kicked out at 2. Emma then tagged the champ in. Alexa just slapped Bayley across the face, no frills. Alexa and Emma continued to isolate Bayley in the corner but a burst of energy from the former champ led her to tag Mickie James in.

The 6-time women’s champion unloaded on Alexa before taking her down with a crossbody. Mickie went for the Mick Kick but Alexa dodged it and slapped James across the face once again. Mickie hit a Lou Thesz Press from the top rope but Emma broke up the ensuing cover.

Bayley cleared Emma out of the ring before Alexa threw Bayley out. As Alexa truned around, Mickie James hit the Mick Kick for the win.

Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman (Steel Cage match)

As the match began, The Miz joined the commentary table. Braun started off by driving Roman into the corner before attempting to launch Roman into the cage. Roman reversed it and started to climb the cage, only for Braun to pull him down. Roman then sidestepped Braun who hit the ringpost shoulder-first. Strowman then caught Reigns in mid-air and hit him with a spinebuster as we headed to commercial.

As we came back to the action, Braun sent the ‘Big Dog’ face-first into the steel cage. Braun then sandwiched Roman against the steel cage and it looked like it knocked Roman a little loopy. Braun charged at Roman again but Roman sidestepped him, sending Braun crashing head-first into the steel cage.

Taking his chance, Reigns hit Strowman with a flurry of kicks before somehow deadlifting Strowman for a Samoan Drop. Roman then started climbing the cage but The Bar came out of nowhere and stopped Roman in his tracks. Ambrose and Rollins came out toom delving the situation into chaos.

The Bar brawled at ringside with Seth and Dean as Roman continued to climb. Braun somehow dragged Roman back into the ring with one hand and hit a vertical suplex from the top rope. Roman kicked out at 2 as the brawl continued at ringside. The Bar, Seth and Dean continued their brawl into the backstage area as The Miz followed them and locked them in the parking garage.

Miz returned to commentary as Strowman and Reigns were perched on the cage. Roman got knocked off first but he took Strowman’s foot out from under him, causing him to crashing. Roman hit Strowman with multiple Superman Punches, 3 to be exact, but it still wasn’t enough to pin Strowman.

As Roman looked to finish Braun off, Kane’s music hit. As Roman speared Braun, Kane burst out from under the ring and chokeslammed Reigns twice. Kane then hit Roman Reigns with a Tombstone Piledriver before Strowman finished Reigns off with 2 Running Powerslams.

The only way I can make sense of this is if Kane is Braun Strowman’s real dad.
