What’s the story?

According to a report by Wrestlezone, it seems like former WWE superstar and current Ring of Honor World Champion, Cody Rhodes will not be a part of the upcoming NXT Takeover show, which takes place in Houston on Saturday night.

In case you didn’t know…

WWE is all set to bring back the WarGames for the first time in decades, this Saturday night in Houston and current ROH World Champion and Bullet Club member Cody Rhodes will also be in the city of Dallas on Saturday night along with his Bullet Club stablemates, who are scheduled to have a show with ROH the very same day.

The WarGames event was first invented by Cody’s father Dusty Rhodes, during his time with WCW and this Saturday, NXT’s three best teams, in the form of Sanity, The Undisputed Era and Roderick Strong & Authors of Pain will battle it out inside the brutal cage.

The heart of the matter

Earlier this week, it was confirmed by Wrestlezone that Cody Rhodes has stated that he will not be a part of NXT Takeover: WarGames and will not be joining his elder brother Dustin Rhodes aka Goldust, who will be at ringside this Saturday during the War Games match.

“The American Nightmare” has also confirmed that he will be a part of ROH’s Survival of the Fittest event on Saturday night, where he is scheduled to defend his ROH World Title against Christopher Daniels in a Texas Death Match.

The former WWE superstar also praised Triple H for WarGames and said that he believes “The Game” will try to do justice to the event. Cody also praised Undisputed Era leader Adam Cole by stating that he and the rest of the eight NXT superstars will tear the house down on Saturday night.

What’s next?

Both WWE NXT and ROH will be present Texas, Houston on the very same day and both promotions have lined up a great card for their respective events. There is absolutely no doubt that wrestling fans will get to witness two amazing shows on the very same day.

Author’s take

I think Cody is currently focused on his next big challenge as he looks forward to defending his ROH World Championship against Christopher Daniels in a deathmatch. It's good that he always makes sure to not burn the bridge with WWE, a place where his return seems inevitable at some point, even if it's in a few years.
