From the WWE rumor mill: Former Tag Team Champion injured

<p>
Xavier Woods could have been seriously injured at a Smackdown Live House Show

What's the story?

According to a WWE fan, twitter user @BigStevieCool95 who was in attendance at the live event at Texarkana, Arkansas, Xavier Woods may have been injured in a match involving the New Day and the team of Tyler Breeze and Fandango (Breezango) and the Smackdown Live Tag Team Champions The Usos.

In case you didn't know...

Xavier Woods along with his fellow members of New Day, Kofi Kingston and Big E, lost the tag team championships at Summerslam to The Usos. This came less than a month after the trio won the tag team championships, making them three-time tag champs (two-time RAW tag champs/one-time SD Live).

Following their recent loss, the rumours going around were that there were "huge plans" for New Day to not only win the titles back, but to eventually break the record for most tag team title reigns which is currently held by The Dudley Boyz with nine reigns.

The heart of the matter

The reports coming in from those in attendance at tonight's event is that Woods suffered a knee inury in the middle of the match.

As seen above, the fan who initially reported on it noted that both the referee and Fandango gave the dreaded "X" signal to the backstage officials, which has of course been known to signal a real life injury.

The injury is said to have happened when Woods went for a jumping DDT and appeared to have pushed off the wrong way causing the knee to visibly buckle and the former three-time tag team champion to go down instantly. After the "X" signal was given, Kofi Kingston was quickly rolled up to end the match so Woods could be tended to.

What's next?

All signs point to Woods' knee being in rough shape following tonight's inury, though details are still on their way. Woods was unable to leave on his own and was helped to the back by both Kofi and Big E as well as WWE Dr. Chris Amann.

We are all obviously hoping for the best and we should know more about how serious the injury is and the recovery timetable within the next few days, including tomorrow night's SmackDown Live.

Author's Take

Over the past month, the injury bug has swallowed up The Revival's Scott Dawson, Bayley, TJP, Big Cass, Asuka, and now it looks like the always entertaining Xavier Woods has joined that list.

We are still waiting for more details and footage from the event to come in but nothing that is coming in sounds very good for the New Day member. Luckily if the injury isn't very serious it doesn't seem very out of character for him to continue to make appearances alongside his teammates in some capacity, so hopefully, we won't be without Woods for too long.
