WWE Rumors: Why WWE keeps booking Alexa Bliss segments on Raw

Even though she isn't cleared for action, Bliss is still one of the best female talents with a microphone.
Even though she isn't cleared for action, Bliss is still one of the best female talents with a microphone.

What's the story?

Before she suffered a concussion over the fall, Alexa Bliss had been Raw Women's Champion on two occasions.

Since then, she has been given more of a booking role thanks to Acting GM Baron Corbin. But what's the reason behind some of the strange segments she's hosted since in charge of the Women's Division?

Wrestlingnews.com reports that a piece from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter mentions that those in charge love Alexa and her character.

In case you missed it...

Alexa Bliss was the Raw Women's Champion earlier in 2018, but she lost it to Nia Jax at WrestleMania 34.

She would go on to win the second-ever women's Money in the Bank match and cash in on Jax on the same night. She would lose the title again, however, to Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam.

Bliss was slated to take on Trish Stratus and Lita in a tag-team match at Evolution, but she was pulled from the event and hasn't competed in a match since before the PPV.

It was rumoured that she suffered a concussion, thus taking her out of action until she is medically cleared. Since then, Baron Corbin has put Bliss in charge of the Women's Division and Bliss has held two public forum sessions with Bayley and Sasha Banks.

Bayley and Sasha have answered fan questions on the last two episodes of Raw.

They have been weird with 'fans' asking questions of the two babyfaces and have not been what you could call huge successes in the eyes of many fans. Bliss is also going to host a segment with Rousey and Jax on Raw.

The heart of the matter

While some of the segments have been awkward, the report from Wrestlingnews suggests that Vince himself is behind the writing of the segments.

The Chairman rewrote the entire episode of Raw last week due to the death of former US President George HW Bush. He's also been behind writing the bulk of Raw over the last few weeks.

Bliss will reportedly host a press conference between Rousey and Jax to address/hype their match at TLC on the go-home edition of Raw.

Wrestlingnews.com also mentioned what the Wrestling Observer Newsletter had to say about Bliss and her recent segments:

"They are in love with Alexa Bliss. They think Alexa Bliss hung the moon and she can't wrestle so they just figure that these talk segments get Alexa Bliss on television and get her lots of TV time and they feel that people wanna watch Alexa Bliss."

They also put over Bliss' promo work and said it's not her fault she's booked in these 'awkward segments'.

What will become of Bliss after TLC is up in the air? She could become permanent GM should Corbin lose at the PPV, or maintain her existing role.

What's next?

Whatever people say about Bliss, she is certainly one of the better women on the microphone. Bayley and Sasha have always sounded like they were giving a book report in front of a high school class. Nia Jax and Natalya also don't do well when given extended time to speak.

Since so many of the women on Raw don't do their best work with their promos, it makes sense for Alexa to continue to be featured. She's a valuable member of the roster still and is clearly someone that those in charge like.

She's beautiful, is passable in the ring and has carried her feuds with Mickie James and Nia Jax due to her mic skills. Creative also must love her if she's only one of two women to have held both the women's titles of Raw and SmackDown since the brand split.

The other is Vince favourite Charlotte Flair. It appears as if they don't want fans to forget Bliss since she's unable to currently compete.

Although Bliss might not be as physically strong as say, Bayley or Banks in the ring, the fact is sometimes one's promo ability is held in higher regard than his or her in-ring talent. Just ask the former Enzo Amore.
