Finn Balor made a surprise appearance in Blackpool last night

What's the story?

Finn Balor appeared at NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool last night to take on former student Jordan Devlin but whilst many fans believe this was a late switch, this might not have been the case.

In case you didn't know...

Jordan Devlin was originally scheduled to face Travis Banks at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool last night, but after an assault, before the bell left Banks unable to participate in the match, it looked as though their collision had been cancelled.

Luckily, fellow Irishman Finn Balor made his way to the ring to the excitement of the sold-out crowd and seemed to throw his hat in the ring as fans were able to bear witness to a first time showing between Devlin and Balor.

The heart of the matter

It was believed that Balor was a last minute decision for WWE when it was ruled that Banks was actually injured, but it appears that this wasn't the case. According to a report by RingsideNews, Banks isn't actually injured, instead, the plan was always for Balor to come in and pop the crowd by making a surprise appearance to silence his former student.

The two men even wore colour co-ordinated clothing as they put on one of the matches of the night and according to the same report, they are now expected to continue their feud on NXT UK over the next few months, which could put some much-needed eyes on the UK product.

What's next?

Moving forward, the report suggests that Balor will be making regular appearances as part of NXT UK, which means that the former Universal Champion will be able to visit his family more regularly since UK tapings take place on British soil.
