WWE Rumors: Possible reason why WWE made Charlotte Flair #1 contender again

Why is Charlotte Flair the number one contender again?
Why is Charlotte Flair the number one contender again?

What's the story?

Recently, Charlotte Flair demanded another opportunity at the Smackdown Women's title and while Bayley stood in her way of getting that coveted #1 contender's spot, she quickly disposed of her former Four Horsewomen teammate. She now goes on to face Becky Lynch for the Women's title for what feels like the umpteenth time in less than a year.

Not only does doing this create a situation where the rest of the women are left struggling for tv time, but it also makes fans sit through another edition of Flair versus Lynch. Of course, that's not really a bad thing, especially with how well the two have worked off against each other in the past, but it's pretty safe to say that the fans are tired of the formulaic booking.

In case you didn't know...

Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair have been intertwined in storylines ever since last year's edition of Summerslam, where Flair won but Lynch turned heel in the process. The two would then go on to battle for the title throughout the latter half of the year with very few breaks in between. The two also met at the Royal Rumble, which resulted in Lynch eliminating The Queen to earn a title shot at WrestleMania 35.

Unfortunately for Lynch, Flair inserted herself back into the title picture after Lynch got suspended by WWE and Vince McMahon named Charlotte Flair as her replacement against Ronda Rousey. With that being said, Lynch was ultimately able to defeat both women in a "Winner take all" match at WrestleMania 35 to win both the Raw and Smackdown Live titles.

The heart of the matter

The WWE Universe has been very vocal about not wanting to see another installment of Flair versus Lynch after WrestleMania 35, but WWE has decided to do it again for one reason or another. Interestingly enough, former WWE superstar, Lance Storm has come to WWE's aid and defended the company's decision.

She’s probably just going to the pay-per-view to lose again to Becky. If that is the case, it’s like, so do you want to take Ember Moon, someone who hasn’t had that run yet on top in WWE and beat her in her first match, just because well, we don’t want Charlotte in that spot again? It’s like they want everything they want the second they want it and they think they understand enough and obviously this is a vocal minority, I’m not saying everybody’s this dumb.

While Storm's words might strike some as a little harsh, especially with how tired The WWE Universe is of Flair vs Lynch, do they really have any other options to go with at this point in time? Beyond that, can WWE really risk throwing a young and promising superstar to the wolves and handing them a high profile loss?

What's next?

Becky two belts will be pulling double duty at Money in The Bank and will take on both Charlotte Flair and Lacey Evans in separate matches. Interestingly enough, there is also a rumor going around that Lynch will lose one of the belts and be officially drafted back to a singular brand, which will be interesting to watch unfold.
