CM Punk rejected AEW for WWE Backstage
CM Punk stunned the WWE Universe on Tuesday by appearing on the FOX Network show, WWE Backstage. The plan to introduce him was kept a secret by the network and only Renee Young knew about it until the very end.
Now, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Live has revealed that CM Punk rejected an offer from All Elite Wrestling to head to WWE Backstage. He said:
Now, what I can tell you with negotiations with Punk are that Punk did, in fact, negotiate with AEW. I know that Punk's story, I don't even know what his story is now but I know that the story he gave indicated like they (AEW) sent me some texts and it was this and it was that. CM Punk met in person with Tony Khan about AEW and they offered him a lot of money, and he ended up doing this WWE on FOX gig.
WWE and CM Punk seem to be slowly mending fences. But will the former WWE Champion ever make an in-ring return?
