Zelina Vega's WWE release has been received with overwhelming shock by the fans and the wrestling fraternity in general. Wrestlers are equally surprised by the unforeseen WWE departure.

Sports Illustrated have now revealed more details on Zelina Vega's WWE release in a new report. Vega was very vocal about her unhappiness over WWE's third-party edict, and she went on to start an Only Fans account.

Vince McMahon reportedly considered this a breach of Zelina Vega's contract, which was subsequently terminated. The WWE Management felt that Zelina Vega, real name Thea Trinidad, "boxed them into a difficult situation," and the officials were left with no option but to fire her.

WWE told Sports Illustrated that the official reason behind Zelina Vega's release was a "breach of contract."

The company's decision to release Zelina Vega has attracted attention from the SAG-AFTRA Labor Union. The development could bring about some big changes with regards to WWE labeling its talent as independent contractors.

Zelina Vega released the following statement after her WWE release:

"I want to say thank you all very much for the last 3-4 years @WWEUniverse , it was incredible. I would have never have been able to say "this is for you dad" if certain people did not believe in me. I love you all and I couldn't have done it without your support."

Vega will be eligible to work for another company after her 90-day no-compete clause expires in February 2021. Vega has noted that she will continue to wrestle, while also being an active streamer on Twitch.
