WWE: Kofi Kingston wants more recognition for The Rock

Kofi Kingston is officially recognized as the first African-American Superstar to win the WWE Championship. However, he does not want to be remembered as the first-ever African-American to win the prestigious title.
The former WWE Champion claims that The Rock is the real first-ever African-American Superstar and wants him to be acknowledged as such. Kingston adds that The People's Champ is Black regardless of what people say and WWE needs to mention it that way.

Talking on D-Von Dudley's Table Talk podcast, he said:
"I think it’s silly that people try to not count The Rock in that category. Regardless of what you look like, you are what you are. He’s Black. Whether he’s half Black, he’s Black. I definitely take a lot of pride in that sentiment like you said. I think for a long time, people of color, especially African Americans have been waiting for someone who looks exactly like them to hold that title." (H/T WrestlingInc)
Booker T and Mark Henry have also won the top titles in WWE but they were World Heavyweight Champions and not the WWE Champions.
