As revealed first by Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio, Velasquez recently had a meeting with WWE officials and serious discussions have taken place between both parties.
ESPN’s Marc Raimondi reiterated Meltzer's report by stating the following:

It was additionally reported that the former UFC Heavyweight Champion also plans on having talks with AEW officials. It is also worth noting that Velasquez has spoken to NJPW as well regarding a potential deal.
Velasquez is still under contract with UFC, however, many believe that we may have already seen the last of the Mexican fighter inside the Octagon.
The 2-time UFC Heavyweight champion has worked two pro wrestling matches for AAA and has come across looking like he was made to compete inside the squared circle.
His most recent match took place at the AAA Lucha Invades NY show where he teamed up with Psycho Clown and Brian Cage in a winning effort against Rey Escorpian, Taurus and El Texano Jr.
Velasquez is yet to decide which company he will join but all hints point towards it being either AEW or WWE. Cain teamed up with Cody in his debut match and has gone on record to appreciate AEW's efforts. The legendary heavyweight also has close ties with WWE as he made a performance centre appearance back in 2018.
