#4. Update on John Morrison's WWE return
The biggest story of the week has undoubtedly been John Morrison's rumored return to WWE.
While Morrison himself responded to the rumors making it seem like he isn't coming back, the word going around backstage makes us think otherwise.
Dave Meltzer opened up about the Morrison situation on the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer stated that the talk of getting Morrison back was going on long before the former WWE star's Impact contract expired. It was also revealed that Morrison has already decided his next destination but he is not allowed to talk about it just yet.
While a possible AEW signing could also be on the cards, the secrecy in this scenario points towards WWE as the company likes to be the first ones to break the news of a returning Superstar.
Here's what Meltzer wrote in the Newsletter:
John Hennigan, 39, also known as John Morrison, Johnny Impact and Johnny Mundo, is expected to return to the promotion. We’ve heard the name talked about for months, even before his Impact contract ended, that WWE would be his destination when it became clear he wasn’t going to renew with Impact. Right now his friends have just said he has a place he’s going and that he’s not allowed to say anything, and in wrestling terms, while it’s possible it’s an AEW surprise, that would be a change from what was talked about months ago.
When the term is that he can’t say, that usually means WWE since they tell everyone that you can’t say anything or risk the deal (even though we’ve never heard of anyone not used for that reason) and that they have to be the first ones to announce it.
