WWE Rumors: American Alpha may debut on main roster next month

The other tag teams will sit up and take notice

Ready, willing....

It was reported just a day ago that NXT Tag Team Champions American Alpha are due for a promotion. Cagesideseats.com reports that it might come around in the next month. With their singlets and patriotic flavour, the duo are evocative of ‘the greatest tag team in the world’, Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas.

Both Jason Jordan and Chad Gable are highly accomplished amateur wrestlers; Jordan, real name Nathan Everhart, was ranked the second best collegiate wrestler in America as a student. Gable, real name Charles Betts, represented the USA in the 2012 Olympics.

The duo were formed as a heel tag team in 2015, but their never-say-die style won over fans and brought about a face turn in the end of that year. After overcoming almost all the tag teams in NXT including former champs the Vaudevillains twice, American Alpha would defeat The Revival at NXT TakeOver: Dallas to win the titles.

With the brand split approaching and the WWE’s tag team division adding to its ranks, another pair of titles exclusive to SmackDown isn’t impossible. Reports suggest that there will be only one sovereign tag team championship, but the fluidity in the WWE could change that.
