What's the story?

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that WWE had come to terms with the release of Tye Dillinger, TJP, Arn Andeson, and Hideo Itami, but it appears that there could have been some interesting stories behind their releases.

In case you didn't know...

WWE is feeling the pressure of All Elite Wrestling's shadow currently and it's thought that they are hoping to sign all of their talents to lengthy contracts to ensure that they are unable to make the move over to join their competition.

It has been reported recently that even the stars who are not being used creatively are being held to their contract obligations just to ensure that they remain loyal to WWE, which is why these four recent releases came as such a shock.

The heart of the matter

Dave Meltzer recently discussed these recent releases on The Wrestling Observer, via WrestlingInc, where he confirmed that Arn Anderson's release came after a number of run in's with Vince McMahon.

Details are limited at this time, but it appears that there was a recent issue at a house show that wasn't handled in a way that McMahon would have liked, Anderson took full blame for the situation and his contract was then terminated.

TJP's release was reportedly to do with disciplinary reasons and at the time it was seen as something that WWE needed to do. Perkins was the only active talent who was fired from his contract, whilst Tye Dillinger asked for his release and was granted it the following day and Itami confirmed that he had requested his release back in January.

What's next?

There are expectations that Arn Anderson could go on and flourish in AEW if he chooses to continue his producer role, whilst the futures of Dillinger, Itami and TJP remain somewhat unclear.
